SAN JOSE, Calif. – No one won the Mega Millions Christmas Eve jackpot Tuesday night.
The winning numbers for the Dec. 24, 2024, Mega Millions drawing were 11, 14, 38, 45, and 46, with a multiplier of 3.
The jackpot has grown to $1.15 billion, with a cash-out option of $516 million.
Four tickets matched the five white balls for the game’s second-tier prize and were sold in California, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Wyoming.
"I play them all — Fantasy Five, Powerball, and Super Lotto, but right now I’m focused on the Mega Million," said Robert Clark, of San Jose.
Clark and other lottery players had a billion reasons to focus on playing the Mega Millions lottery game.
"I think it’d be the greatest gift from Santa I’ve ever gotten," said Michael Schuster of San Jose.
"So, it does add another dimension. It’d be nice to hit with all the family together, all warm and toasty in the house. It would make a memory that you’d never forget," said Noel Castillo of San Jose.
Mega Millions said large jackpots bring out more players, and the more people play, the more prizes are won. The lottery said that when jackpots are large, there are also smaller prizes won, ranging from $2 to more than $1 million.
The next Mega Millions drawing is Friday, Dec. 27.
The jackpot for the Dec. 27 drawing is $1.15 billion, according to Mega Millions. It's the fifth largest jackpot in the game's history.
Mega Millions tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Tickets are currently $2 each, and in most areas, players can add the Megaplier for an additional $1 to multiply their non-jackpot prizes. However, the price of a ticket will more than double to $5 starting in April 2025, with lottery officials promising larger prizes and more winners.
The overall odds of winning any Mega Millions prize are 1 in 24, according to lottery officials – and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.
