MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) – The Menomonie Police Department is announcing the unexpected, off-duty death of one of their officers, Officer Sam Miller.
Menomonie police say Officer Miller has served with the Menomonie Police Department since January 2024. Prior to that, Miller served at multiple other law enforcement agencies.
Menomonie police add that they have requested help from neighboring law enforcement agencies to help with public safety needs in the City of Menomonie for the next few days.
Chippewa Falls Police Department Chief of Police Ryan Douglas released the following statement:
Local agencies from the region will be covering shifts in the city, responding to calls for service to assist the community. This will allow the members of the Menomonie Police Department to focus on wellness and grieve their loss.
