Why consider fasting in 2025: Spiritual warfare against demonic activities – The Christian Post

In Matthew 17:21, Jesus said that a certain evil spirit does not go out of a person except by prayer and fasting. Some manuscripts disagree on whether this verse should be included or not, but the principle is found throughout Scripture: Fasting applies pressure to the spiritual realm. Arthur Wallis notes, “Often, pressure has to be maintained before there is a breakthrough in heavenly warfare.” It appears that some demonic activity is not released until pressure is applied through prayer and fasting.
These two bullets do substantial damage
The weapons we use to fight Satan are not physical; they are spiritual. The weapons should match the warfare! Satan cannot be eliminated with an AR-15, but we can fast and pray. Those two high-caliber spiritual bullets do substantial damage. Open the Word, pray, meditate, and worship for the fatal blow: “’Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts” (Zech. 4:6).
Two wills cannot successfully live in the same body — our self-will and God’s will. We can’t defeat what we feed. God’s Word states, “For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world” (1 John 2:16). Society says, “Be yourself! Embrace your longings! Feed your desires!” However, we know that gluttony and indulging the flesh never lead to spiritual victory, or any victory for that matter.
Spiritual disciplines are weapons not works
Some strongholds hang on piece by piece. We must “resist the devil” and he will eventually flee (James 4:7). Fasting disciplines the body, prayer and worship bind the enemy, and the Word provides wisdom. Fasting ignites a hunger for God and provides direction.
Don’t misconstrue — I’m not promoting a works-based religion. I’m demonstrating the importance of spiritual disciplines that produce godly fruit. What is dead in your life that you know God is wanting to resurrect? What dream, goal, or godly ambition is waiting to be realized? Is there a stronghold that has been gripping your life? Do you desire a deeper walk with God and increased spiritual hunger? Do you need help in self-discipline and temperance? Do you need a breakthrough, direction, or peace? Is all Hell breaking loose in your life? Are there great obstacles ahead? Then it’s time to prepare for battle through prayer and fasting.
The pain of discipline or the pain of regret
Ask God for direction and set a target date. Remove the hindrances within your home such as junk food and junk media — out of sight, out of mind. Fuel the completion of your fast by praying, reading, worshiping, and listening to sermons on fasting. Have a prayer list available. It’s a battle — a hunger strike against Hell. It’s challenging and difficult, but the pain of discipline far outweighs the pain of regret.
The vast majority of the heroes of the faith fasted, and it’s still very common in many places. But in America, our fullness is our downfall. Leonard Ravenhill once said, “When there’s something in the Bible that churches don’t like [such as fasting], they call it legalism.”
Lean, mean fighting machine
Whether it’s on the radio, television, the internet, or at church, we often hear that God has a wonderful plan for our life and that Christianity is easy and carefree. We have changed following Christ into an easy path rather than a narrow road. We’ve made Jesus a butler rather than a King. We want the cross light, the road easy, and the burdens lifted.
Spiritual disciplines are intended to not only break down strongholds but also to build us up. Yes, God blesses His people — we should pray for, enjoy, and encourage His blessings. But a wonderful, comfortable life is not always a blessing. As the Bible teaches, the presence and the power of God in our lives is always a blessing: “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace” (Ps. 29:11 NIV).
A Christian is called to be a lean, fighting machine. I’m not talking about body weight but spiritual weight — weight to pull down strongholds. Leonard Ravenhill has said, “How can you pull down strongholds of Satan if you don’t even have the strength to turn off your TV?” We could add “How can we pull down strongholds of Satan if we don’t even have the strength to say no to food?”
Fasting silence the flesh
I’m not teaching perfectionism. No one has complete mastery over the flesh, but our goal should be victory rather than constant defeat. Deeply embedded addictions can be reversed by starving the flesh. We are not powerless. We give control to either the flesh or the Spirit. James 4:5 reminds us that our spirit has “envious yearnings.” Do we yield to these yearnings, or do we give in to the pull of the flesh? We will crave more of what we feed. Fasting silences the voice of the flesh.
Hearing the right voice
We all fall short. The only difference between those who succeed and those who fail is that those who succeed get back up again. Fasting doesn’t twist God’s arm; it realigns our heart with His and gets us back on track; it gives us wisdom and discernment for crucial issues. Discernment is one of our greatest challenges today. I came across this news clip some time ago that illustrates my point:
A 17-year old Dutch girl who died on Monday during a bungee jump misheard instructions and jumped on the “no jump” instruction. One of the Spanish instructors on the bridge when the teenager plunged 40 meters to her death told the police that the girl jumped before her harness was clipped onto the bungee cord. An instructor told Spanish television channel RTVE that she had said, “No jump. No jump,” but that the girl may have misheard and thought she said, “Now jump.”
So tragic. Too many today are listening to the wrong voice. Are you? The goal of sin is to destroy our testimony and our lives by following the wrong voice. Obviously, we are to spend time in God’s Word seeking wisdom and discernment, but fasting aids the process. We don’t want to go when God says, “No!”

Jupiter, the largest decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator on Solana, is set to distribute 700 million JUP tokens — valued at approximately $590 million — in a massive January 2025 airdrop. Dubbed “Jupuary,” this event is part of Jupiter’s strategy to grow its community and reward contributors.
Jupuary 2025 🪐

Here is the first Overview of the upcoming Jupuary distribution.

Team decided to go with a split between Users & Stakers and Carrots & Good Cats.

This way we are trying to appreciate everyone in the Jupiverse!

Note: This is a Draft, Subject to change 💡 pic.twitter.com/mbGNy3QxSe
The distribution will benefit users, stakers, and key contributors based on activities recorded in a previously taken snapshot. Jupiter’s draft eligibility criteria include trading volume on its platform, participation in advanced features, and staking activity within the Jupiter DAO.
85 million JUP will be allocated to expert traders across seven tiers. The highest-performing traders could earn up to 100,000 JUP per wallet.
Staking investors in the Jupiter DAO will receive 37.5 million JUP, distributed proportionally based on staking amounts. Active DAO participants, or “Super Voters,” who voted in at least 13 out of 17 governance proposals, will share an additional 37.5 million JUP.
Jupiter is also promoting its mobile app by offering 190 million JUP in additional rewards for users who claim their tokens through the app and stake them. Bonuses range from 50 to 200 JUP per wallet.
While the airdrop aims to reward community engagement, some users have expressed frustration over the wide gap between swap tiers. Others have called for higher rewards for users of Jupiter Perps, a feature that directly supports the platform through fees.
The Jupiter team has invited feedback from the community and noted that the plan may be revised based on suggestions.
Looking ahead, Jupiter has plans to distribute 4.25 billion JUP tokens over 2025, including incentives for swap users, expert traders, and staking participants.

Winners, losers of Thursday Night Football: Caleb Williams, Bears' offense fail vs. Seahawks – USA TODAY

Santa Claus didn’t deliver any offense to the Seattle Seahawks or Chicago Bears.
The Seahawks defeated the Bears 6-3 in an offensive struggle in the final “Thursday Night Football” game of the season. It doubled as the lowest-scoring game of the season.
Geno Smith passed for just 160 yards in the win, which kept the Seahawks’ (slim) playoff hopes alive.
Here are the winners and losers from the Week 17 game:
The Seahawks defense sacked Caleb Williams seven times and held the Bears’ listless offense to 179 total yards and three points.
NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.
Four Seahawks players had six tackles. Seahawks CB Riq Woolen had the game-sealing interception.
Defensive lineman Leonard Williams was the best defensive player for Seattle. He had five tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss and four QB hits.
In a game with nothing but field goals, Myers made both his attempts, including one from 50 yards out at the end of the first half. Myers’ 50-yard field goal ended up being the difference in the game.
Charbonnet was a lone bright spot for the Seattle offense. The reserve running back produced 76 yards from scrimmage.
The NFL had a successful regular season streaming live games. Fresh off having the most-streamed NFL games in U.S. history on Christmas Day, the NFL capped off another regular season of “Thursday Night Football” on Amazon Prime.
The Bears have now lost 10-straight games. Their losing streak matches the New York Giants’ for the longest active losing streak in the NFL. Chicago hasn’t tasted a victory since Oct. 13.
Williams, the Bears’ rookie QB, had only 93 passing yards midway through the fourth quarter. The Bears’ offense was booed by frustrated Chicago fans after Williams completed a 2-yard pass to WR DJ Moore on a third-and-24 play.
They were booed again when Williams threw an interception that ended the Bears’ comeback bid.
Williams finished with 122 passing yards and one interception. He and the Bears couldn’t get anything going all night.
The Bears have no offensive identity or cohesion. It’s plagued them the entire year.
Williams is approaching David Carr’s dubious NFL record for most times sacked in an individual season.
Williams was sacked seven times Thursday night, bringing his total to an NFL season-high 67 sacks – the fourth most ever for a QB in a single season.
Carr owns the record, set when he was sacked 76 times in 2022.
If you like offense and touchdowns, this game wasn’t for you.
The 6-3 scoreboard was more representative of a Seattle Mariners vs. Chicago White Sox ballgame.
Neither team scored in the second half Thursday.
Chicago had 101 total yards of offense in the first two quarters. Most of the Bears’ yards came on a 67-yard field goal drive.
The Bears were only able to muster up 78 total yards in the second half.
The Seahawks weren’t much better. Seattle gained 87 yards after halftime and had just two first downs in the third quarter and only one in the fourth quarter. Yet, the Seahawks still managed to win.
There were 13 combined punts.
Thursday was the Bears’ final home game of the season. Chicago fans had to witness their beloved Bears drop their 10th-straight game. To make matters worse, spectators at Soldier Field watched the game in the rain.
The Bears are on the road in Green Bay for their regular season finale. They might end the year on an 11-game losing streak.
The Seahawks placed Walker on injured reserve Thursday after he sustained an ankle injury in last week’s game.
The timing couldn’t have been worse for fantasy players with leagues in the semifinals or championship round.

NEW YORK, Dec. 28, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —
WHY: Rosen Law Firm, a global investor rights law firm, reminds purchasers of securities of Applied Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: APLT) between January 3, 2024 and December 2, 2024, both dates inclusive (the “Class Period”), of the important February 18, 2025 lead plaintiff deadline.
SO WHAT: If you purchased Applied Therapeutics securities during the Class Period you may be entitled to compensation without payment of any out of pocket fees or costs through a contingency fee arrangement.
WHAT TO DO NEXT: To join the Applied Therapeutics class action, go to https://rosenlegal.com/submit-form/?case_id=32500 or call Phillip Kim, Esq. toll-free at 866-767-3653 or email case@rosenlegal.com for information on the class action. A class action lawsuit has already been filed. If you wish to serve as lead plaintiff, you must move the Court no later than February 18, 2025. A lead plaintiff is a representative party acting on behalf of other class members in directing the litigation.
WHY ROSEN LAW: We encourage investors to select qualified counsel with a track record of success in leadership roles. Often, firms issuing notices do not have comparable experience, resources, or any meaningful peer recognition. Many of these firms do not actually litigate securities class actions, but are merely middlemen that refer clients or partner with law firms that actually litigate the cases. Be wise in selecting counsel. The Rosen Law Firm represents investors throughout the globe, concentrating its practice in securities class actions and shareholder derivative litigation. Rosen Law Firm achieved the largest ever securities class action settlement against a Chinese Company at the time. Rosen Law Firm was Ranked No. 1 by ISS Securities Class Action Services for number of securities class action settlements in 2017. The firm has been ranked in the top 4 each year since 2013 and has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for investors. In 2019 alone the firm secured over $438 million for investors. In 2020, founding partner Laurence Rosen was named by law360 as a Titan of Plaintiffs’ Bar. Many of the firm’s attorneys have been recognized by Lawdragon and Super Lawyers.
DETAILS OF THE CASE:   According to the lawsuit, statements made during the class period were false and/or materially misleading because they concealed and misrepresented the clinical trial protocols and procedures that Applied Therapeutics had in place. Therefore, defendants provided investors with the false impression that protocol and good clinical practices were being properly followed. The lawsuit alleges that, in truth, Applied Therapeutics was not adhering to trial protocol and good clinical practices which, in turn, created an exceedingly severe risk that the trial data would be rejected by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) in the context of a New Drug Application. When the true details entered the market, the lawsuit claims that investors suffered damages.
To join the Applied Therapeutics class action, go to https://rosenlegal.com/submit-form/?case_id=32500 call Phillip Kim, Esq. toll-free at 866-767-3653 or email case@rosenlegal.com for information on the class action.
No Class Has Been Certified. Until a class is certified, you are not represented by counsel unless you retain one. You may select counsel of your choice. You may also remain an absent class member and do nothing at this point. An investor’s ability to share in any potential future recovery is not dependent upon serving as lead plaintiff.

Beyond productivity: how AI is driving tech sector growth – Financial Times

Industry leaders say taking time to slowly implement new tools and processes is paying dividends in long-term employee adoption and engagement.
The technology sector is leading the way with artificial intelligence (AI) integration, with research suggesting its adoption rates are higher than in any other industry. This reflects the significant value that many high-tech companies are securing from their AI investments at every organisational level.
A roundtable discussion organised by Workday revealed how leaders in the industry are capitalising on this value, as well as how they’re integrating AI effectively into their workflows – and how they’re measuring their success so far.
“Everybody now gets to engage with AI,” says Sadie Bell, Vice President, Innovation of People Systems, Digital Experience and Intelligence at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. “And this is really why there's a revolution, because it's affecting every person and every job.”
Not only is AI supporting every employee group, but it’s also addressing individual needs. Technology leaders value its unique potential to be tailored to specific roles and skillsets. “I've never seen a technology that is as personal as AI, from the standpoint that it is helping me with my specific tasks,” says Ben Askin, Chief Information Officer at tax-compliance software company Vertex. “I can get my work done at scale, with better quality, enabling me to orchestrate better outcomes for our company and our customers.”
Workers have also already moved beyond using AI to pursue productivity gains. Now they are also focusing on the business value and transformative outcomes that AI can deliver. Research shows 77 per cent of professionals believe AI will have a transformational or high impact in the next five years, with most foreseeing more innovation and more time spent on engaging, judgement-based or expertise-driven work.
“AI can eliminate manual and repetitive tasks to give time back to employees,” says Arnulfo Sánchez, Chief Accounting Officer at database platform DataStax. “[But it is also] allowing people to be more effective at their jobs. It has enabled the individual to work on storytelling instead of worrying about consolidating data.”
Each new success paves the way for further AI roll-outs. In the technology sector, in particular, many companies are managing competing demands for resources as they scale. AI deployments that deliver rapid ROI are crucial, underpinning confidence in the overall value case for the technology – and often funding the next phase of innovation.
Implementing AI incrementally is also important to building employee trust and engagement. Workers at high-tech organisations may seem more comfortable with AI, but individual tech employees are just as likely to have anxieties about what the roll-out of new tools might mean for their roles. “Some people really take to it quickly, but others are more timid,” says Vertex’s Askin. “So, we’re really taking baby steps to get there.”
Indeed, ensuring support for employees is just as crucial as training them. “Change management is just as important as capability in the technology,” says Sheri Rhodes, Chief Customer Officer at Workday. In practice, that means working with staff throughout deployment, consulting them on where they see potential to introduce the technology effectively in their jobs, emphasising how new capabilities will change their roles for the better, and re-skilling or upskilling teams if needed to more efficiently adopt AI.
Big-bang change can also be risky, warns DataStax’s Sánchez. “We start small – we test, test and test again, and we start with low-risk areas,” he says, adding that his team always aims to use features that have already been tested and adopted by other companies.
While AI can solve an incredibly broad range of business challenges, it’s important to offer role-tailored guidance and ensure the right data sets are provided for each use case. AI deployments have the greatest potential when users have the confidence and trust to take full advantage of them. One of the ways that companies can measure success is by studying adoption rates across organisations, and by the impact this has on internal mobility.
Bell goes on to explain that employee upskilling is seen as a key indicator of AI impact at Hewlett Packard Enterprises. “Our team members are upskilling and reskilling, and that is a really important metric of our success,” she says. “This investment in our workforce enhances our ability to drive innovation and take on new opportunities, ultimately contributing to significant company growth.”
Employees in tech companies – particularly burgeoning start-ups – may be more used to a rapid pace of change than their peers in other industries. But unless leaders are willing to work with their staff to build up usage slowly, deployments are likely to disappoint, even in technically advanced organisations. As workers become confident building new tools and processes into their day-to-day actions, they are able to focus more on the work that matters.
“Experiment a lot and check the results,” advises Workday’s Rhodes. “Always keep the human in the loop. It's not about an AI ‘doomsday’ and AI taking over. Really, it’s about empowering people, improving the way we work, and the combination of people and AI accelerating us to a better future.”

Jupiter DEX Aggregator Announces Major Token Airdrop Event – CoinMarketCap

Jupiter has unveiled plans for a significant airdrop event in January.
Jupiter has unveiled plans for a significant airdrop event in January. The event, known as “Jupuary,” will distribute 700 million JUP tokens, valued at approximately $580 million, to various stakeholders, including users, stakers, and community contributors.
The distribution will be based on a snapshot already taken. Although the final eligibility criteria are still under discussion, preliminary drafts suggest that users will be rewarded based on their trading volume over the past year.
For instance, users with an annual trading volume of at least $800 are expected to receive a minimum of 50 tokens, while those with $29,000 in trading volume could qualify for 250 tokens. Approximately 2.3 million wallets are anticipated to be eligible for this airdrop.
This initiative follows a previous airdrop in November 2023, during which nearly 1 billion JUP tokens were allocated to users who executed a minimum of $1,000 in swap volume on the platform before the snapshot.
Currently, the circulating supply of JUP tokens is 1.35 billion, with a maximum supply initially set at 10 billion. However, Jupiter's community has approved a reduction of the maximum supply to 7 billion tokens, which will involve burning over 3 billion tokens.
Launched in October 2021, Jupiter aggregates liquidity from multiple decentralized exchanges, providing users with competitive rates for token swaps.
