After a highly successful inaugural season, Porsche Endurance Challenge North America is set to return in 2025 with new venues, race distances and an updated class structure attracting the nation’s top Porsche racers.
Last year’s inaugural championship featured three one-hour races culminating with a six-hour title decider at Circuit of The Americas.
For 2025, two of America’s most prestigious endurance racing venues, Sebring International Raceway and Road Atlanta, will join the calendar for the first time.
The updated race format will feature a season-opening two-hour battle at Sebring followed by a pair of 90-minute races at California’s Sonoma Raceway and COTA.
The championship will conclude at Road Atlanta with a four-hour contest to determine who claims the championship prize.
As in 2024, the championship is open to racers competing with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup machine as well as the Porsche 718 Cayman RS Clubsport.
The opening season of the championship featured four different winners in the GT3 Cup class, with JTR Motorsport Engineering’s Anthony McIntosh taking the prize.
The Cayman championship was won by Kellymoss’ Michael Clark, who teamed with Porsche Carrera Cup North America Pro champion Dutchman Loek Hartog.
For 2025, both the GT3 Cup and Cayman divisions will feature both Pro-am and Am classes.
All four 2025 races will take place on the same weekend as rounds of Porsche Sprint Challenge North America presented by Yokohama – allowing teams and drivers to use the same car in both sprint and endurance competition.
“The inaugural season of Porsche Endurance Challenge North America was a massive success, and we are really looking to grow the championship even further in 2025,” said Porsche Motorsport North America President and CEO Volker Holzmeyer.
“We have worked closely with our teams, our drivers, and our sanctioning body, USAC, to gain valuable insight and feedback about how we can make the championship even bigger and better.
“We’re placing a greater emphasis on the ‘endurance’ part of the name for 2025 with tweaks to the race lengths and formats, with the shortest race now extended from an hour to 90 minutes.
“Adding two iconic endurance racing venues like Sebring International Raceway and Road Atlanta, also makes the series even more attractive to our competitors.
“We’re very proud of Porsche’s incredible history in endurance racing. This type of motorsport really defines what the brand is all about.
“The Porsche Endurance Challenge North America will play a key role in not only developing young drivers who are looking to climb their way up the Porsche pyramid into IMSA, SRO and FIA WEC, but also giving a great opportunity to our Pro-am and Am drivers to be able to compete in the same event with their driving coach.”
2025 Porsche Endurance Challenge North America Schedule:
Feb. 28 – March 2 — Sebring International Raceway (120 minutes)
April 4-6 — Sonoma Raceway (90 minutes)
May 16-18 — Circuit of The Americas (90 minutes)
Sept. 12-14 — Road Atlanta (240 minutes)

100+ dogs and roosters seized in major Kaufman County animal cruelty case – WFAA.com
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Authorities are investigating a large dogfighting and cockfighting operation in Kaufman County, where more than 100 animals were seized by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Texas this week.
On Dec. 17, a search warrant was served at an undisclosed location in Kaufman County, resulting in the removal of 50 roosters, 43 hens, 34 adult dogs and 10 puppies.
Evidence of dogfighting and cockfighting paraphernalia was found throughout the property, the SPCA of Texas said Thursday.
“Medications, a scale, several blood-splattered treadmills, and caches of paraphernalia, including slashers and gaffs, were also found on the property,” the SPCA said in a news release. “Empty rooster transport boxes were also found.”
Many of the roosters were held in wire cages with metal coverings, some inside a makeshift barn, and they only had access to contaminated water, SPCA said. The organization says the chickens are believed to be connected to a cockfighting investigation from earlier this year.
SPCA said some of the dogs were chained out in the open without access to shelter while others had access to barrels, tarps and metal roofing. Many of the dogs were reported underweight and injured.
“Most areas were thick with mud and some areas contained standing water due to recent rain,” the SPCA said.
Cockfighting and dogfighting are illegal and carry felony sentences in Texas. Federal law prohibits interstate transport of fighting animals, while the Texas Safe Outdoor Dogs Act prohibits chaining dogs without adequate shelter and water.

Canterbury Park’s request for shorter horse racing meet in 2025 is approved – Star Tribune
Sports
Canterbury Park will start a week later, end a week earlier and include 51 days of competition, down from 54 in 2024.
By Kevin Bertels
Canterbury Park’s 2025 horse racing meet will begin May 24 under an agreement approved Thursday by the Minnesota Racing Commission.
The Racing Commission approved a 51-day horse racing season in 2025, concluding Sept. 20, as proposed by Canterbury Park. That’s three days shorter than in 2024, with racing starting a week later and ending a week earlier.
Most racing will be on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays; starting times will be 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays and 1 p.m. on Sundays. Post times for the final week of live racing will be 4 p.m.
Thursday racing will be scheduled on six dates: July 3, 10 and 24, Aug. 7 and 21 and Sept. 18; it will begin at 5 p.m.
The 2025 schedule will include a nine-day break from racing, from July 14 to July 22.
The shortened schedule was agreed upon by track management and the Minnesota Horsemen’s Benevolent & Protective Association, which represents thoroughbred racehorse owners and trainers.
The expiration in December 2022 of a decade-long deal with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is tied to the shorter meet. It led to a large drop in Canterbury’s purse fund in 2023 and to lessened betting interest because of small race fields.
The 2024 meet ticked up, with a 13 percent increase in betting handle and a 13 percent increase in thoroughbred field size over 2023.
