The session, scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, will bring together members of the Appropriations Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Financial Services Committee. It will be led by Mario Diaz Balart, the committee’s vice chair and head of its National Security Subcommittee.
In a post on X on Tuesday, Riley Moore, a member of the House of Representatives, said the roundtable will build on ongoing work by lawmakers to understand the scale of violence affecting Christian communities in Nigeria.

“We will never turn a blind eye to our brothers and sisters in Christ who suffer for their faith,” he wrote.
According to an official committee notice, the briefing will feature the US Commission on International Religious Freedom and other experts, who will present findings on targeted attacks and provide recommendations for protecting vulnerable communities.
The committee said it aims to gather “critical testimony” to guide congressional action as concerns grow over rising insecurity and religiously motivated violence in Nigeria.
The Nigerian government has repeatedly rejected claims of targeted Christian killings in the country.
