President Donald Trump on Friday said he has labeled Nigeria a “country of particular concern” due to the persecution of Christians.

While there have been reports about Christians being murdered in the West African country, the Nigerian government has denied these claims.
“The Federal Government strongly condemns and categorically refutes recent allegations by certain international platforms and online influencers suggesting that terrorists operating in Nigeria are engaged in a systematic genocide against Christians,” Minister Mohammed Idris said earlier this year.
Trump said that when a large group of people are slaughtered, something has to be done about it.
“I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter, and report back to me,” he said.
Moore responded to Trump on the social media platform, X.

“You have always been a champion for Christians around the world, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with you and Chairman Cole @houseappropsgop to defend our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being slaughtered by radical Islamists in Nigeria,” Moore wrote on X.
He said that the U.S. is ready to help save the great Christian population.
“The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other Countries,” Trump said.
