Early Chinese Christian Tablet From 781 AD Added to Art History Classroom – The Wheaton Record

Chuck Weber donates a stele which witnesses Christianity in China as early as 781 AD.

Jingjiao, or “Luminous Religion,” is the earliest Christian church in China. A rubbing of a stele that records its history is now on display in Wheaton College’s art history lecture hall. 
Anna Wang, a sophomore psychology major from Beijing, said that given the current persecution of the church in China, “this stele is a good way to remind us what’s happening in the other part of the world — how God’s work is still continuing.”
