Tether rejected JPMorgan’s Bitcoin sale claims, citing strong reserves and ongoing regulatory discussions.
Tether, the issuer of the USDt stablecoin, has rejected claims from JPMorgan analysts suggesting it may need to sell Bitcoin to comply with potential U.S. stablecoin regulations.
A February 12th report led by JPMorgan strategist Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou suggested that proposed U.S. laws could require Tether to adjust its reserves, potentially selling some of its Bitcoin holdings.
Two legislative proposals are currently under discussion:
JPMorgan analysts noted that the STABLE Act proposes stricter reserve requirements, limiting stablecoin issuers to insured deposits, U.S. Treasury bills, short-term Treasury repos, and central bank reserves. 
The GENIUS Act allows additional reserve assets such as money market funds and reverse repos.
The JPMorgan report stated that Tether’s reserves are 66% compliant under the STABLE Act and 83% under the GENIUS Act, meaning adjustments would be necessary under the proposed rules.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino responded to JPMorgan analysts’ claims with a mix of criticism and confidence in Tether’s financial position. 
In a series of posts on X, Ardoino suggested that JPMorgan analysts are frustrated about not holding enough Bitcoin.
JPM analysts are salty because they don’t own Bitcoin.

Addressing the broader regulatory concerns, Ardoino emphasized that stablecoin legislation is still under discussion and that many details remain to be defined in upcoming consultations. 
He reassured that even in a worst-case scenario, Tether’s group equity exceeds $20 billion in highly liquid assets and generates over $1.2 billion in quarterly profits from U.S. Treasuries, excluding other investments and activities.
He concluded by asserting that Tether has one of the best risk management strategies in the industry and reiterated that JPMorgan’s stance may stem from “missing the Bitcoin train.”

Bubba Wallace won the Daytona 500 Duel No. 1 on Thursday, one of two qualifying races for the NASCAR Cup Series opener on Sunday.
Duel 1 was eventful, with three cautions in the first 25 laps that thinned the field. Helio Castroneves was involved in the third caution, an incident that knocked he and fellow open entry Chandler Smith out of the race. Castroneves will start 41st in Sunday’s Daytona 500.
Justin Allgaier raced into the Daytona 500 field as the top open entry car in Duel 1, finishing 9th after surging on a third outside lane.
The second duel qualifying race will take place later on Thursday to set the rest of the Daytona 500 lineup.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – A 71-year-old Canadian citizen was accused of taking drone photos of “vital defense installations and equipment” at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, according to the State Attorney’s Office.
The SAO said Xia Guang Pan, of Canada, used a drone to take aerial pictures of space launch complexes, a payload processing facility, a submarine wharf and munitions bunkers.

This occurred on three separate days in January.
Pan was charged with three counts of using an unmanned aircraft to photograph vital defense installation and equipment without authorization.
The investigation is ongoing.
If convicted, Pan faces at least one year in prison.

World events are unfolding at an unprecedented pace, and for those who view history through a biblical lens, the connections to prophecy are undeniable. His words—“all hell will break loose”—weren’t just rhetoric. They had a tangible effect, as Hamas quickly reversed course and resumed the hostage releases that had been stalled.
While this situation is playing out on the world stage in political and military terms, it is impossible to ignore the spiritual weight behind it. Even former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee referred to Trump’s impact in the region as “in biblical proportions.”
Gaza has been a spiritual battleground for centuries. Historically known as Philistia, it was home to the enemies of Israel, including the infamous Philistine giants. The wars that raged in David’s time are echoed in the conflicts of today, and it raises the question: are we witnessing another significant chapter in the struggle between God’s people and the forces that oppose them?

Adding to the intrigue is an unusual image that surfaced during Hamas’ propaganda surrounding the hostage releases—a resistance fist with six fingers. While some may dismiss it as an artistic error, believers familiar with biblical history might recognize a deeper significance.
In 2 Samuel 21, one of the Philistine giants, a descendant of Anak, is described as having six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. The Anakim were among the ancient giants that the Israelites encountered—descendants of the Nephilim, the beings mentioned in Genesis 6. A new Pew Research Center poll shows 72% of Americans said the pandemic did more to divide the country than bring it together, with 75% saying COVID-19 took a toll on their own lives. The poll was conducted in late October 2024 with 9,593 respondents.
The poll suggests that, 5 years after the pandemic was officially declared in March 2020, the nation has not yet healed from the societal effects of the novel coronavirus, with Americans citing the once-in-decades event as an accelerator of the political divide between the left and the right, the distrust of government institutions, and the rise of disinformation. 
Among the three-quarters polled who said the COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on their lives, 27% said the toll was major and 47% said it was a minor toll. 
While more than 1 million Americans have died from COVID-19 in the past 5 years, and millions more live with long COVID, only one in five adults (21%) now say the coronavirus is a major threat to the health of the U.S. population as a whole. 
A majority (56%) said the virus is no longer something they need to worry about much, as most Americans have been infected with the virus, many multiple times.
When examining poll results through political party affiliations, 60% of Republicans said COVID-19 is no worse than a cold or flu, but 76% of Democrats describe COVID-19 today as worse than a cold or flu.
Fully 60% of Democrats worry we’re not taking COVID-19 seriously enough now, compared with 20% of Republicans.

Political affiliation also colored whether a respondent thought elected officials and organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did a good job handling the pandemic, with 79% of Democrats saying public health officials’ response was excellent or good, while 35% of Republicans agreed. 
Trust in scientists during the COVID pandemic took a significant hit: In April 2020, 87% of Americans expressed at least a fair amount of confidence in scientists, but that number dropped to 73% in October 2023.
Similarly, 54% of respondents said the media overplayed the threat of COVID-19, exaggerating the risk to the average American.
Also of note, the survey shows that, in the past 5 years, the pandemic changed how Americans work. Before March 2020, 63% of Americans worked outside the home. That’s now 25%, with 75% saying they always or sometimes work from home or remotely. 
Similarly, 50% of those polled said their use of technology changed during the pandemic. Equal amount of poll respondents said technology made their lives harder or easier. 
Detection of the D1.1. genotype, linked to 2 severe infections in people, came from the national milk testing program.
Also, the CDC today said it has received reports of 14 cases so far this year from 5 jurisdictions. 
USDA testing confirmed detections in cats from California, Montana, and Oregon.
Among several more outbreaks on commercial farms, one was at a layer facility in Pennsylvania that has nearly 2 million birds.
Media reports indicate Gerald Parker, DVM, PhD, will lead the White House Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy.
Uganda last reported an Ebola outbreak in 2022.
Immunity after infection with pre-Omicron strains was 81%, regardless of symptoms, compared with 54% for Omicron.
The index patient’s wife is the second confirmed case, and 3 close contacts are isolated for treatment and testing.
Test positivity topped 30%, with steady rises in emergency department visits and hospitalizations.
Tests on milk from farms in the county where the worker is from yielded the first detection of the D1.1 genotype in dairy cattle.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, America First Legal (AFL) announced it is now accepting applications for the Summer 2025 Law Clerk Program. AFL is seeking motivated and mission-aligned second and third-year law students to participate.
AFL law clerks will work on various issues in cutting-edge areas of the law. Clerks will learn how to fight against the left’s weaponization of the legal system by working on matters across AFL’s litigation portfolio. Law clerks are also trained to assist with AFL’s oversight mission, gaining valuable experience in using various oversight tools to influence national discussions. AFL clerks will also have the unique opportunity to connect with prominent policymakers within the conservative movement dedicated to upholding America-first values.
Clerks are involved in conducting legal research,  drafting, proofing, and cite-checking AFL products, ranging from letters, memos, complaints, motions, briefs (administrative, trial, and appellate), and more.
Hours and arrangements are flexible and can be made on an individualized basis. In-person opportunities are available for law clerks in Washington, D.C., but AFL can accommodate remote candidates. The clerkship requires a 25-40-hour weekly commitment, emphasizing high-quality, meaningful work that drives the conservative movement forward.
