The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office just finished building a special room for victims of crimes, where they can feel comfortable and safe while sharing their stories.
The room is designed to be a welcoming space for all victims.
Wagoner County investigators say they interview hundreds of victims every year who share the worst experiences of their lives.
Investigators had no private place to talk with them other than the same cold, poorly lit interrogation rooms where a suspect would be interviewed. The goal of this new room is to help make victims feel safe and empowered to share their stories.
“This is where we would have to interview our victims as well. As you can see it’s very cold; I mean it’s designed this way so when we bring people in here we can get straight to the point,” said Investigator Jake Carey.
Carey says like many rural departments, this is all they have as a private and quiet place to interview victims of crimes. He realized they needed to make a change.
“This is what we are considering our soft interview room. This is where we can bring in victims and make them feel comfortable talking to us,” he said. “We’ve got soft couches, pillows, even have a diffuser that’s making it smell good in here.”
Carey has interviewed countless victims over his career and says they are often scared, have a wall up and have a hard time telling their story.
“Almost every time we deal with a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault, they are closed in, they are quiet, they are reserved, and a lot of that is because every bit of control they’ve had has been stripped from them. They don’t feel like they control their lives, their destiny,” he said.
Carey says law enforcement’s job is to keep people safe, but they cannot help if they don’t know about something.
“We want to hear them, we want them to feel like they are being heard, and if it can be something as simple as putting them on a couch with a cushion and a blanket and some coffee, some snacks, whatever to where they are able to relax. If that brings in more people, then it makes everything we are doing worth it.”
The sheriff’s office partners with the nonprofit Help in Crisis to help victims, and they plan to use this room together.
Carey says the Wagoner community donated almost everything to build the space.
“The community sees that the goal is to help these victims. To provide an option for these victims. And I think in some way the community feels like they are helping to accomplish that goal when they do stuff like that,” he said.

Cornell Law Professor William Jacobson reacts to Luigi Mangione going from being an Ivy League student to being accused of murder on ‘The Ingraham Angle.’
Indiana University (IU) is teaching students that they are inherently “oppressors” because of their race, sex and religion, documents show.
According to the school’s website, the course “Understanding Diversity in a Pluralistic Society” prompts students to examine “theories and models” in order to “enhance understanding of our diverse society.”
The course “provides content about differences and similarities in the experiences, needs, and beliefs of selected minority groups and their relation to the majority group.”
It added that the “groups include, but are not limited to, people of color, women, and gay, lesbian, and bisexual persons.”

ONLY 20% OF UNIVERSITY FACULTY SAY A CONSERVATIVE WOULD FIT IN WELL IN THEIR DEPARTMENT: REPORT
The Free Beacon first reported that the class instructor Colleen Rose prompts students to compose an “in-depth reflection of two parts of [their] identity: one subordinate identity and one dominant identity.”
The Beacon obtained a chart that’s given to students to define certain groups. The chart explains that “subordinate groups” are subject to “social oppression” by the “dominant groups.” These groups include “LGBTQ” people, “women,” and religious and ethnic minorities.
“Heterosexual, White, Able-bodied People, Christian,” and “Men” are “dominant groups” guilty of “social oppression.”

The student went on to say, “It’s very rich that in a class where we are supposed to be talking about identity and not suppressing identity, I’m forced to suppress my own identity… I have to suppress myself because I’m presumed to be some privileged, horrible human being that didn’t grow up without food. That’s insane to me.”
The course, offered by IU’s School of Social Work, fulfills credit requirements for the college’s “social and historical studies.”
IU did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Taylor Swift subtly supported boyfriend Travis Kelce breaking a major Kansas City Chiefs touchdown record.
The pop star, 35, dropped a “like” on a Chiefs Instagram post celebrating Kelce, also 35, earning the most receiving touchdowns in KC history.
Kelce and the Chiefs played the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday, December 25, in which the tight end earned his third touchdown of the NFL season. His overall record now surpasses Tony Gonzalez.
“It’s everything to me. Tony’s been a mentor to me, he’s been there right there for me [with] any questions I’ve ever had,” Kelce said in a postgame interview. “I feel like I’m still trying to fill that guy’s shoes. He’s such an unbelievable competitor and I’ve got so much love for him. It’s an honor to be in conversations with him.”

Swift, however, was not present at Pennsylvania’s Acrisure Stadium to watch Kelce and the Chiefs win 29-10.
Last year, Taylor brought her parents, Scott and Andrea Swift, and her brother, Austin Swift, with her to Kansas City, Missouri, for Christmas. At the time, the family attended Kelce’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium.
Despite a disappointing Christmas Day loss for the Chiefs in 2023, Kelce offered some insight into how he celebrated with Taylor and her family, crediting Austin, 32, with reviving the holiday cheer by dressing up in a Santa suit and handing out personal gifts.
“It was a full commit. He killed it,” Travis recalled on his and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast in December 2023. “He actually made me feel like a child because his gift to me was straight out of the bag.”
He added, “[He] handed me a VHS of my favorite football movie of all time … Little Giants.”
Despite the negativity from the game, Travis expressed gratitude for his loved ones who helped to salvage the holiday.
“It ended well with good Christmas cheer and great people,” he said. “That’s always going to save Christmas no matter if you lose to the Raiders or not.”
Earlier this month, Us Weekly exclusively revealed that Taylor planned to host Christmas with her and Travis’ families this year.
The holiday comes just weeks after Taylor concluded her Eras Tour in Vancouver on December 8. The 149-date tour ran from March 2023 to December 2024, spanned five continents, raked in more than $2 billion and was attended by 10.1 million fans. Now, she is ready to enjoy some much-needed rest.
“Taylor’s exhausted,” a source exclusively told Us earlier this month. “She’s excited for some relaxation and downtime.”

Taylor’s time off will of course include Travis after contending with their busy schedules since the beginning of their relationship in the summer of 2023.
“Taylor plans to stay in and hibernate [with Travis] for a while,” the insider shared. “They want to do ‘normal things’ as a couple.”
As the pair consider the next step in their relationship, the source said their two families are “very intertwined,” adding that it feels “as if they’ve been a part of each other’s [lives] for years.”

Collecting top players in NBA 2K mobile’s MyTeam mode can be costly, but redeem codes provide an affordable way to bolster your team with basketball elites.
High-rated players are not easy to come by in 2K Mobile. You need to give it your 110% and leave it all on the court to earn coins and get them. But if you don’t want to spend your hard-earned coins and still get legendary players like LeBron James, redeem codes are extremely helpful.
There is currently 1 active NBA 2K Mobile code to redeem as of December 16, 2024.
There are also regular events and celebrations, such as the release of new themes or seasons, where you can claim rewards and one-off gifts without any codes.
For this reason, we’d advise you to participate in all the in-game events to build the strongest possible roster alongside claiming any codes that are made available.
Redeeming codes is a relatively easy task to accomplish and can be done in a few simple steps:
The rewards are redeemed automatically when you enter a non-expired code in the pop-up window.
Even without codes, you can always complete the time-limited sets to unlock and claim even more exclusive rewards to boost your in-game performance.

‘Aprilia had many great races, the bike is there; what I don't think is there are the riders’ – Óscar Haro – Motorcycle Sports Australia

©PSP
Aprilia finished third in the MotoGP Constructors’ Championship in 2024, repeating its 2023 performance. Despite podium finishes and being the only manufacturer to win a main race besides Ducati this year, the team still seems to lack what it takes to fight for the titles.
Jorge Martín, the 2024 World Champion, will join the Noale manufacturer next season. Will he have an RS-GP capable of defending his crown? Óscar Haro believes the bike has the potential, as he stated on Nico Abad’s YouTube channel:
It’s a bike that can win effortlessly in America or secure pole positions or victories with [Aleix] Espargaró. The bike is there. You don’t know where Yamaha is, but you know where Aprilia is. You can have a standout race like in the United States… you could have a race like Álex Rins had with Honda – a bike that wasn’t ready – but when it’s your lucky circuit, the planets align, and you deliver a fantastic race.
For the former sporting director of LCR Honda, what Aprilia has been missing are the right riders: ‘Aprilia didn’t just have one good race with Maverick Viñales; they had many great races, many front-row [starts]. It’s a bike that is there. What I don’t think is there are the riders. And now, they are getting someone who has to rise to the occasion’.
Midway through the year, Jorge Martín was announced as an Aprilia rider for the next MotoGP season, while his current team, Prima Pramac, increasingly leaned toward a switch…
In 2026, Brazil will return to the MotoGP calendar with a circuit that hasn’t hosted World Championships since 1989 – the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna. Although it’s still…
This year, Ducati again had eight bikes on track – more than any other manufacturer. And once again, they dominated the championship, winning 19 out of the 20…
The 2024 season was the last for Francesco Guidotti as KTM's team manager in MotoGP. He will be replaced by Aki Ajo, who has a lot of experience…
David Alonso dominated the 2024 Moto3 season with multiple victories, showcasing not just his skill but also his originality in post-race celebrations. The Colombian rider for CFMOTO Aspar…

Which foods are ‘healthy’? FDA has new requirements for food labels – WQOW TV News 18

Nuts and seeds, salmon, olive oil, and canned fruits and vegetables are among those that will newly qualify for a “healthy” label.
Nuts and seeds, salmon, olive oil, and canned fruits and vegetables are among those that will newly qualify for a “healthy” label.
(CNN) — The US Food and Drug Administration has finalized new standards that foods must meet before they can be labeled as “healthy.”
Requirements now include limits on saturated fat, sodium and added sugars. “Healthy” foods must also contain a certain amount of food from at least one of the key food groups outlined in the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans, such as fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy.
Some foods that could previously carry the healthy label — such as white bread and heavily sweetened cereal and yogurt — will no longer qualify. But nuts and seeds, salmon and olive oil and some peanut butters and canned fruits and vegetables are among those that will newly qualify.
The final rule, announced Thursday, is the first major change to the standards since they were introduced 30 years ago. The agency says that the updates better align with the latest science on nutrition and can help consumers make better food choices.
“It’s critical for the future of our country that food be a vehicle for wellness. Improving access to nutrition information is an important public health effort the FDA can undertake to help people build healthy eating patterns,” FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Califf said in a statement. “It is vital that we focus on the key drivers to combat chronic disease, like healthy eating. Now, people will be able to look for the ‘healthy’ claim to help them find foundational, nutritious foods for themselves and their families.”
Most people in the US have diets that exceed dietary recommendations for saturated fat, added sugars and sodium, according to the FDA, and most individual diets are low in fruits and vegetables.
“The FDA recognizes that diet-related diseases, including heart disease, cancer and diabetes, are the leading cause of disability and disease in the United States and contribute to America’s status as having the lowest life expectancy amongst large, high-income countries,” Jim Jones, the FDA’s deputy commissioner for human foods, said Thursday. “Food labeling can be a powerful tool for change.”
Use of “healthy” labeling is voluntary for food manufacturers. Foods that meet the new requirements can start using the label early next year, while those that don’t currently meet the standards of the new rule have three years to conform.
“The updated claim could also result in a healthier food supply if manufacturers choose to reformulate their products to meet the new definition,” Jones said. “We are hopeful that industry and others join us in our efforts to make use of the term ‘healthy’ on food packaging a ubiquitous, quick signal to help people build nutritious diets.”
The FDA is also working on a symbol that can be put on packages to help consumers more easily identify foods that are considered healthy and developing a plan for nutrition labeling that would go on the front of food packaging to complement the more in-depth labels on the back.
These nutrition initiatives were part of a national strategy outlined by the Biden Administration at the Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health in 2022.
“The updated definition should give consumers more confidence when they see the ‘healthy’ claim while grocery shopping, and we hope it will motivate food manufacturers to develop new, healthier products that qualify to use the ’healthy’ claim,” Nancy Brown, chief executive officer of the American Heart Association, said in a statement.
However, the language may only appear on a small number of packages, Brown said.
“That’s why the FDA’s work on front-of-pack nutrition labeling is so important. A front-of-pack labeling system based on the best available science and consumer research would give consumers valuable information about the nutritional value of foods and beverages and help them quickly and easily identify healthier options,” Brown said. “We urge the administration to move forward with a proposed rule for a front-of-pack nutrition labeling system.”
