Federal authorities have arrested an 18-year-old George Mason University student accused of plotting an attack targeting the Israeli Consulate and Jewish communities in New York City.
Abdullah Hassan, a freshman majoring in information technology, was apprehended by FBI agents on Tuesday in Falls Church, Virginia. 
According to court documents, Hassan, a national of Egypt currently living in the United States, is in removal proceedings with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The FBI has arrested Abdullah Ezzeldin Taha Mohamed Hassan, a George Mason University student, on federal charges. 
The FBI’s investigation began on May 4 after Fairfax County Police received an anonymous tip about Hassan allegedly engaging in "radical and terrorist-leaning behavior" on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. 
Authorities believe Hassan operated several pro-ISIS and al-Qaeda accounts that promoted violence against Jewish communities.
During conversations with an undercover FBI informant, Hassan allegedly referred to New York City as a "goldmine of targets" and outlined plans to attack the Israeli Consulate in Manhattan.
In a statement, George Mason University President Gregory Washington confirmed that Hassan is banned from campus and that the university has increased security measures in response to the arrest. 
"We remain committed to the safety and well-being of our community," Washington said.
Hassan faces federal charges in connection with the alleged plot.

Ahead of the College Football Playoff game between No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 8 Indiana on Friday, several Fighting Irish players were seen warming up shirtless in the frigid temperatures of South Bend, Ind. In sub-30 degree weather with wind chills over 10 miles per hour, multiple Notre Dame players warmed up with jumping jacks while shirtless.
Fighting Irish running back Jeremiyah Love was not one of those players. When asked by College GameDay why he wasn't shirtless alongside his teammates, Love said: "Nah man, they tripping, it's cold out here."

Unlike his teammates, Love was seen covered from head to toe during pregame warmups, wearing long-sleeves and gloves as part of his outfit.
On the morning of the game, snow blanketed Notre Dame's football field. The grounds crew managed to clear up the snow well before the game, preventing Love from having to run the ball through even worse conditions.

Even without the display of "toughness" in the cold, Love made an immediate impact in the game. After both Fighting Irish quarterback Riley Leonard and Hoosiers quarterback Kurtis Rourke began the game by throwing interceptions, Love put the first points on the board with a remarkable 98-yard touchdown run. Love—who rushed for 943 yards and 15 touchdowns during the regular season—broke out to the left sideline and outraced Indiana for the touchdown, kicking off the 12-team CFP era. It is already the longest run in CFP history.
Love's 98-yard TD rush is the longest rush by any FBS player in 2024, and ties the longest rush in Notre Dame program history (Josh Adams, 2015 vs. Wake Forest).

Felling lucky? Five days ahead of Christmas, a Mega Millions player could get an early present with a prize that is nearing $1 billion.
Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot soared to an estimated $862 million for the drawing.
The jackpot was worth an estimated $392.1 million lump-sum payment after taxes, according to the lottery.
The winning numbers are set to be drawn just after 11 p.m. ET on Friday, and we’ll have the results below.
In March, a lucky Mega Millions player from New Jersey won a whopping $1.1 billion, although that prize has not been claimed yet. It’s not the first time a jackpot went unclaimed.

To play, you will need to pick six numbers. Five numbers will be white balls ranging from 1 to 70. The gold Mega Ball is one number between 1 and 25. 
If you believe the odds are against you, ask for a “Quick Pick” or an “Easy Pick,” the computer will randomly generate the numbers for you. 
Players can add the “Megaplier” for $1, which can increase non-grand prize winnings by two, three, four or five times. The Megaplier is drawn before the Mega Millions numbers on Tuesday and Friday.
