Kat Dennings shares her thoughts on starring in ABC's heartfelt sitcom about a father-daughter reunion, Shifting Gears with Tim Allen. Find the details inside.
Kat Dennings reflects on returning to the screens with a new heartfelt comedy as one broke girl who goes back to her dad’s house because she is getting a divorce and her life is falling apart. Premiering on January 8, 2025, Shifting Gears, starring Dennings and Tim Allen, follows a heartwarming comedy of reconciliation and restoration.
According to Dennings, the show’s comedy lies in the similar yet conflicting natures of the two lead actors. In their worldviews, they couldn’t be any further apart, yet shared traits give them comedic moments as well as warm, touching moments. Allen plays Matt Parker, a recently widowed car remodeling and restoration shop owner whose life turns upside down when his estranged daughter, Riley (Dennings) returns after 15 years.
Dennings’s character is a single mom in the midst of a divorce and financial straits who arrives on Matt’s doorstep with two kids, compelling the father-daughter duo to find their way around this new dynamic.
The 2 Broke Girls actress described her character to TV Insider, saying, “She just shows up on his doorstep with her two kids. She’s getting a divorce, and her life is falling apart. She has no money and she needs to stay with him. So it turns both their lives upside down.”

Dennings said to TV Guide Magazine, “[Matt and Riley] have such different styles and completely different beliefs. But what’s fun about them is that she is his daughter, and they are exactly the same. So when they butt heads, it’s just very, very funny.”
Dennings believes Allen is an exceptional actor with great chemistry with her, with Allen also pointing out the unique bond that they share a birthday on the same date. Praising the Thor actress, Allen told the outlet, “Kat’s so freaking talented. We’re born on the same day, which is kind of weird. Certainly different ages!”
Kat Dennings reunites with her hit sitcom, 2 Broke Girls, as well as Dollface showrunner Michelle Nader in Shifting Gears which arrives on January 8th at 8:00 pm on ABC. The cast also includes Seann William Scott as Gabriel, Daryl Mitchell as Stitch, Maxwell Simkins as Carter, and Barrett Margolis as Georgia alongside Dennings and Tim Allen in leading roles.

Director of Nicole Kidman film she had to pause to ‘stop orgasms’ admits bizarre sexual scene in film happened to her – LADbible

Whatever you want to say about the upcoming Nicole Kidman film, you simply can’t say that the cast and crew haven’t exposed their lives for the marketing.
A couple months after Nicole Kidman admitted she had to pause filming on one scene due to having too many orgasms, the director has admitted that a scene in the film is pulled from her real life.
The film in question is Babygirl, which released on Christmas Day in the US, but will not come out until January 10th in the UK.
Babygirl follows Kidman as a high-powered CEO who begins an affair with a young intern at her company.
Advert
Her affair partner, played by Iron Claw and Triangle of Sadness star Harris Dickinson, initiates a BDSM relationship between the pair.
One scene in particular, involving milk, sees Kidman’s Romy send a glass of milk at the bar.
It turns out to be from Dickinson’s Samuel, with Romy finishing it all in one chug.
He leaves the bar immediately after, calls her a ‘good girl’, and then leaves.
Advert
Where some will think the above is bizarre, others will be hot under the collar at the mere description of the scene.
The director Halina Reijn has stated in an interview with IndieWire that this is drawn from an experience in her real-life involving a much younger actor.
She said: “The milk is, of course, an archetype. We’ve seen it in other movies.
Advert
“It is a great symbol of animalistic sides of ourselves. It happened to me.
“I was playing in Belgium onstage, and I got offstage, and I had a really good run, and I was like, ‘Oh my god!’
“I felt really good about myself for one night in my life. All my colleagues were like, ‘No, we’re going to bed.’ They’re all boring. I was all alone.
“I went to a bar, and I ordered something boring like a Diet Coke because I didn’t drink at that time because I was a control freak.
Advert
“There was this young Belgian actor — I can’t say who it is — but he was famous.
“I knew of him. I’d never spoken to him. He was at least 15 years younger than I, and he ordered me a glass of milk.
“I thought it was an incredible, hot thing to do, and so courageous, and so I wanted to reward him by drinking the whole thing, and I did.
Advert
“It did make me a little nauseated, to be honest with you, because it was cow milk. It was back in the day.”
She went on to clarify he didn’t call her a good girl, saying: “He just walked out. I didn’t have sex with him or anything. But when I was writing, I did think that was one of the most arousing moments of my life.
“There wasn’t even touching. That is what fascinates me about sex. To me, real, shocking sex is often not at all two bodies banging into each other.
“To me, real, shocking sex is about what is in the mind. It’s all suggestion. It’s all imagination.
“Real sex acts to me onscreen are quite boring, which is why we only have two short moments of that.”
Babygirl releases in theatres in the UK January 10.

The Impact of African Trade on Global Stocks – The Africa Logistics

Africa’s role in the global economy is rapidly growing, particularly in the realm of trade. The continent, rich in resources, manufacturing potential, and a youthful workforce, is becoming an increasingly influential player on the world stage.
The relationship between African trade and global stock markets is complex, with both direct and indirect connections influencing the global financial landscape.
This article explores how African trade impacts global stocks, the factors at play, and how businesses and investors are responding to the opportunities and challenges in this dynamic market.
In recent years, Africa has seen significant changes in its trade dynamics. Key sectors like agriculture, mining, energy, and manufacturing have become more integrated with global supply chains.
The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which came into effect in 2021, aims to promote intra-African trade by eliminating tariffs and reducing trade barriers between member states. This agreement is expected to unlock a $3.4 trillion economic opportunity by 2050, increasing intra-Africa trade by 52% in the next few years.
At the same time, African countries are exporting critical raw materials—such as oil, gold, diamonds, cobalt, and agricultural products—to the global market, especially to emerging economies in Asia and traditional markets in Europe and North America.
As African nations continue to evolve into key players in global trade, their influence on global stock markets becomes more pronounced.
The direct effect of African trade on global stocks can be observed in several ways, notably through the performance of multinational companies, commodities markets, and trade-dependent sectors.
The indirect impact of African trade on global stocks is equally significant and can be observed in the broader economic trends that arise from increased trade. These include:
The long-term effects of African trade on global stock markets are expected to become more pronounced. Key trends to watch include:
Imagine a graphic of a large cargo ship in the foreground, symbolizing the booming trade between Africa and the rest of the world. The ship, laden with goods, represents Africa’s increasing exports of commodities, raw materials, and manufactured goods.
In the background, a graph showing fluctuating stock trends would illustrate the impact of these trade movements on global markets. As the graph rises, it mirrors the growth in African trade, with key sectors and companies benefiting from these trends.
The graph would show lines representing commodity prices, stock performance of African companies, and logistics companies, with annotations pointing to key events, such as the launch of AfCFTA, the rise in demand for African resources, and the impact of global supply chain shifts.
The impact of African trade on global stocks is multifaceted, with both immediate and long-term effects on markets worldwide.
As the continent continues to expand its role in global commerce, companies and investors will need to carefully consider the evolving dynamics of African trade when making decisions about stock investments.
Africa’s growing trade potential offers numerous opportunities but also presents challenges that could create volatility in global markets. By understanding these trends, investors can position themselves to benefit from Africa’s rise as a global trade powerhouse.

Medieval RPG Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is arriving sooner than expected – PCGamesN

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s launch date gets a small but welcome bump-up as the RPG looks to dodge some huge, triple-A big-hitters.

Published:
With heavy, gratifying, in-your-face combat and a story filled with wit, Kingdom Come Deliverance is a great historical RPG, but its sequel looks to go bigger and better in every aspect. If it weren’t for a delay, we’d probably be playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 right now, but today I come bearing good news – it’s now going to arrive earlier than its previously-announced launch date.
While Warhorse had aimed for the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 release date to arrive before the end of 2024, it confirmed earlier this year that it would be pushing the game back to February 11, 2025. However, it seems Warhorse has been at a full gallop in recent months to get the medieval game finished as it has just announced that not only has Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 gone gold, but it’s also bringing forward its release date by one week.
While this might sound like an easy way to deliver some good news to players, this also seems like a tactical (and wise) move from Warhorse. Its previous release date would have seen it launch on the same day as one of the biggest upcoming PC games, Civilization 7. Just a few days later on February 14, the Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date is also set to arrive.
Not only is that particular week pretty busy with new triple-A titles, but the rest of the month is already stacked too. Obsidian’s RPG Avowed is set to launch on February 18, the new Yakuza game is slated for February 21, and to top it all off, the most wishlisted game on Steam right now, Monster Hunter Wilds, arrives on February 28. Launching earlier in the month definitely gives Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 a bit more breathing room before all of these juggernauts arrive.
Speaking of wishlists, Warhorse has also revealed that it’s now surpassed a million of them from expectant fans – and that’s excluding any wishlists on console platforms.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will now launch on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, seven days earlier than previously announced. If you want to learn more about it, pre-order it, or add to that impressive Steam wishlist tally, head to its store page here.
There’s even more exciting KCD2 news arriving soon, with a brand new story trailer and PC and console specs dropping tomorrow after the PC Gaming Show Most Wanted showcase.
While you wait for this medieval adventure to arrive, make sure you fill the time with some of the best RPGs and best fantasy games around.

How to watch Arizona State basketball vs. BYU in Big 12 opener: TV channel, live stream – Sports Illustrated

The Arizona State men's basketball team is in a great position.
The Sun Devils (9-2) faced a daunting nonconference schedule and emerged with nine victories, including wins over three teams who made the NCAA Tournament last season.
Now the real test begins. ASU begins its first season in the Big 12 with a road game at BYU (9-2) on New Year's Eve. The Sun Devils are ranked No. 51 in the NCAA's Net Rankings, six spots behind BYU.

The Sun Devils have five players averaging in double figures, led by freshman guard Joson Sanon at 14.0 points per game. BYU features similar balance with five players scoring in double figures, led by freshman guard Egor Demin at 13.3 points per game.
Despite the identical records and similar profiles, BYU is a heavy favorite – 9.5 points.
BYU's home arena, the Marriott Center, is one of the loudest venues in college basketball. It seats 19,000, which is the size of most NBA arenas. Arizona State will have to get off to a fast start to quiet the crowd and neutralize BYU's homecourt advantage.
