Shiba Inu Price Prediction: Can $SHIB Keep Up With Emerging Altcoins? – Brave New Coin Insights

Learn more about Shiba Inu price predictions and if this meme coin can keep up with emerging altcoins like Wall Street Pepe, Solaxy, CatSlap, and Flockerz.
Shiba Inu is facing difficult times. The project faces a massive sell-off from a whale who liquidated 250 billion $SHIB tokens worth $6.05 million. On December 21st,  $SHIB crashed to $0.000022, losing 20% in one week.
>>>Buy the best emerging altcoin<<<
The fall came after the FED announced the latest interest rate cut. They also gave an outlook for 2025, saying the next year will be more aggressive than previously thought. That’s why we can expect only two cuts in 2025, making investors less risk-averse.
These factors could also contribute to $SHIB’s price in 2025. The main question is whether Shiba Inu can reach $0.01 in 2025 and keep up with emerging coins like Wall Street Pepe, Solaxy, CatSlap, and Flockerz.
After the sink, the news broke that $SHIB could surge by 235% and hit $0.00005816. Klejdi Cuni thinks Shiba Inu could reach $0.000070, while Pouyan TradeFX says $SHIB could face a 100% uptick.
However, Neil Patel for Fool.com doesn’t think $SHIB can reach $0.01 in 2025. But, Shiba Inu price predictions say $SHIB will continue growing after 2025. By 2030, integrating Danksharding on Ethereum should incorporate Layer 2 networks and improve user experience, scalability, and transaction fees. This could enhance Shiba Inu’s ecosystem.
Much of Shiba Inu’s current price is driven by community hype and speculation. Like many other meme coins, Shiba Inu also lacks utility, which poses a risk to its long-term existence. That’s why Shiba Inu must offer utility and maintain its relevance in the market.
The truth is that Shiba Inu faces many challenges. Although it will continue growing, $SHIB faces issues about its long-term sustainability and potential. That’s why you can try Shiba Inu alternatives that could bring you better gains and long-term utility.
Here is more about them.
>>>Buy the best emerging altcoin<<<
Wall Street Pepe
Wall Street Pepe combines Wall Street trading tactics with the beloved Pepe meme. This emerging altcoin aims to make smaller traders wealthy and help them beat whales. By investing in $WEPE, investors receive features that will help them on their journey:
The Wall Street Pepe presale success suggests this could be the next Pepe Unchained. To remind you, $PEPU raised over $72 million in its presale and surged by 400% with the first exchange listings. The project also focuses on the Pepe ecosystem, bringing massive utility to investors. That’s why Wall Street Pepe could be the next 100x meme coin. If you want to invest, hurry and buy $WEPE before the upcoming price increase.
>>>Buy Wall Street Pepe now<<<
Solaxy
Solaxy is the first-ever Solana Layer 2. The project combines Ethereum and Solana, aiming to neutralize Solana’s pain points. Solaxy will create a blockchain that will be scalable, fast, and with low fees but without network congestion and failed transactions.
Because of its scalability, Solaxy is the perfect blockchain for all meme traders since it supports high-volume trading. It makes it easy to build, deploy, and interact with decentralized apps. The last amazing feature is its staking platform, where investors can stake their coins for an APY.
Solaxy could become the best Solana meme project ever and the next 10x Solana Layer 2 scaling solution. If you want to invest in this emerging altcoin, hurry and buy $SOLX now.
>>>Buy Solaxy now<<<
CatSlap could be the next best cat-themed meme coin and overcome its competitors MOG, MEW, and POPCAT. Because it’s the first coin with utility among cat memes, CatSlap could be the first cat-themed coin on Binance.
This emerging altcoin gives access to a slapping game. Investors slap for points and rank on Slapometer. Further, investors can stake their coins for a yearly APY. The coins will be locked for seven days, but investors can unlock them earlier if they burn a part of their balance.
After listing on DEX, CatSlap surged by 4000%. The project could be the next meme coin to explode, especially after the CatSlap team burned $1 million in tokens after a massive pump.
>>>Buy CatSlap now<<<
Flockerz is the first project to combine the Vote 2 Earn rewards system and decentralized governance. The project’s core is FlockTopia DAO, where investors vote on crucial project questions and earn $FLOCK. Flockerz gives all voting power to investors who shape the project’s future.
Investors can also stake their $FLOCK coins for an APY. Analysts predict $FLOCK could surge post-listing like Pepe Unchained. The emerging altcoin has a 25x potential, so if you want to invest, act now.
>>>Buy Flockerz now<<<
And while Shiba Inu faces multiple challenges and doesn’t promise gains, new emerging altcoins show potential to overcome $SHIB. Projects like Wall Street Pepe, Solaxy, CatSlap, and Flockerz are better alternatives that could bring massive ROI for investors. If you want to invest in these emerging altcoins, hurry and buy them before their prices surge.

Cryptocurrency comes in many forms. Bitcoin being the most notable, there are many others that go by names like Ethereum, Ripple, Stellar Loomis, EOS and Lightcoin to name a few. There are an estimated 10,000 crypto currencies now in existence.
The idea behind Crypto is it is anywhere and everywhere there is internet access. Not controlled by any one government, crypto is “mined” by using mathematical formulas called block chain technology. Wikipedia describes it as: “A Cryptocurrency is a digital asset designed to work as a medium of exchange that uses strong cryptography to secure financial transactions, control the creation of additional units, and verify the transfer of assets”.
As a currency, Cryptocurrency meet some of the characteristics a medium of exchange must possess. A currency must be hard to replicate, be divisible, recognizable, have uniformity, be portable, have acceptability and maintain a store of value. On the first six characteristics, Crypto coins could be argued to fit the bill nicely. My objection is having issues with the last characteristic, maintaining a store of value.
Its goes without saying that at times, the price of Cryptocurrency can vary tremendously. Lately, that has been an understatement.
Stories of skyrocketing prices and subsequent roller coaster-like plunges are common. Bitcoin itself briefly breached 100,000.00 a coin just a few weeks ago.
Although a rising price may convince some investors to believe Crypto might make an acceptable currency replacement, the very fact it often moves so violently violates the store of value characteristic a usable currency must possess.
Store of value means both the buyer and seller of the currency must have faith in its stability. Stability means it doesn’t go up or down much. Certainly the buyer of crypto relishes the meteoric rise when it occurs, but like all things money, there is always someone else on the other side of the trade.
If a buyer of Crypto makes an overnight fortune on a price spike, the seller of that very same Crypto loses an equal amount in value.
To buy Crypto, one must have exchanged something else for it.
For example, if it is another currency that is exchanged, the person who sold the Crypto now holds a currency that has fallen in value by an equal amount.
Given the recent price instability of Bitcoin, the very definition of maintaining a store of value is almost nonexistent and therefore, at this place in time, Bitcoin cannot be considered a usable currency replacement.
Another attraction of crypto is the fact no one or no one government can shut it down. Again from Wikipedia: “It is a decentralized digital currency without a central bank or single administrator…………”.
Since the internet is worldwide and unstoppable, the thinking goes that crypto coins can’t be confiscated by meddling governments.
However, governments of the world don’t have to confiscate crypto currencies to stop their usage. All they have to do is shut down the exchange websites that trade them. Sounds unlikely but many countries have already done so.
Quite simply, if your country of residence decides it doesn’t want you trading Crypto, it can shut down all the ways you can access it.
Internet workarounds are certainly possible, but to the average Joe, cyber space backdoors may be difficult to access.
Central governments will always strive to maintain strict controls over their respective currencies to insure their viability.
A country’s currency is the lifeblood of their economy so controlling it ensures the ability to use the government check book, which means the ability to deficit spend without restriction.
History has proven time and time again a government will insure its currency remains valid and is not usurped by another. This would obviously include curtailing the use of Bitcoin or any other currency whose ownership becomes too widespread.
That said, to say central governments aren’t fully aware of the threat Crypto coins may present to their specific currencies would be more than naïve.
The U.S. government is already looking into issuing its own version of a cyber coin called the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). President elect Trump has also indicated the U.S. government is looking to expand its control of the Bitcoin market by establishing a Bitcoin reserve of its own.
The U.S. is not alone. The issue is being discussed among central banks worldwide.
That said, in this analyst’s opinion, it’s only a matter of time before governments bring down a harder hammer on the entire cyber coin phenomenon in order to insure continued control of all things money.
“Watching the markets so you don’t have to”

Holiday tips are topping out at pandemic-era levels – NBC News

Many people are tipping their babysitters, housekeepers and teachers this holiday season, but often by the same amounts as three years ago.
A Bankrate survey released this month found housekeepers and child care providers are set to get median tips of $50 apiece, the same average level as in each of the past three years — even though inflation has shaved $5.81 off that gratuity’s buying power since December 2021.
But the holiday spirit of generosity is alive, Bankrate senior industry analyst Ted Rossman said of the findings, especially when it comes to “people that we see and interact with regularly”: Year-end tipping intentions rose in five of the six service-sector roles the consumer finance company looked into this year.
“Across the board, there’s been a decline in tipping,” Rossman said, “so the fact that [planned] holiday tips are basically where they’ve been the past few years is not bad in the broader context.”
The findings come in a year-end season fueled by value-driven consumers who are hungry for bargains and wary of overspending. Inflation has stalled at an annual rate of 2.7%, just above the Federal Reserve’s 2% target. And while discounts have been competitive and some seasonal purchases are getting more affordable, many households remain pinched by grocery prices and other routine expenses that continue to inch higher.
A Bankrate survey released just six months earlier found consumers pulling back on how frequently they tip hairstylists, servers and drivers. The share of adults who said they always offered gratuities fell 8 percentage points for each of those roles since 2021, when the economy was reopening from the pandemic and service worker appreciation was running high. More recent data indicates gratuities at sit-down restaurants have been pretty anemic lately.
So perhaps it’s not surprising that mail carriers and teachers aren’t expected to get fatter tips this year — $20 and $25, respectively, according to Bankrate, the same levels as last holiday season. Landscapers, gardeners and snow removers will be tipped $30 on average, $7 less than a year ago.
The good news, Bankrate found, is that many workers could be handed a few more envelopes. An estimated 57% of consumers plan to tip their housekeepers, up 3 percentage points since last year and 10 since 2021, the biggest post-pandemic jump. Fifty-five percent of people plan to tip child care workers, up from 51% last year and 41% in 2021.
When it comes to the holidays, surprisingly, young adults are the most generous tippers.
Ted Rossman, Senior Industry Analyst, Bankrate
But many households appear unwilling or unable to offer gratuities. A recent Wells Fargo survey indicated just half of people plan to offer holiday tips or gifts. Those who do are more likely to be young adults. The bank researchers found 62% of those ages 18-34 plan to tip, far ahead of the 43% of those 55 and up.
Bankrate likewise found more generous intentions among younger people, even though they typically “have been viewed as worse tippers than older adults,” Rossman said in a release of the findings. “It’s still true that Gen Zers and millennials are worse tippers at restaurants and many other year-round tipping venues. But when it comes to the holidays, surprisingly, young adults are the most generous tippers.”
Whatever your age or budget, experts offer a few tips for tipping this season.
Etiquette gurus at the Emily Post Institute say gifts, cash or a combination of the two are often acceptable. When it comes to tipping people who work with kids, they recommend offering nannies up to one week’s pay and babysitters up to the total they’d earn in a typical session. Day care providers can be tipped anywhere from $25 to $70, perhaps along with a small gift from your child, they say.
Personal finance experts at Fidelity suggest pooling resources for a class gift or tip as a way to thank teachers collectively: “Instead of getting 20 ‘World’s Best Teacher’ coffee mugs, for instance, your child’s teacher could get one large gift, such as a gift card to a restaurant or retailer.”
Some service workers are constrained by their employers from accepting gifts of certain amounts or anything at all. That’s true for many nursing home staffers, home health aides and government workers like garbage collectors or mail carriers, so Emily Post experts say it’s always smart to check company or agency policies first.
And if you can’t afford to tip, inexpensive personal gestures are always better than nothing. A thoughtful handwritten card can go a long way — and a brief personal note should always accompany any money or gift you’re offering anyway, experts say. A batch of cookies or a homemade craft can also let you show your appreciation on a budget.

River dredging in Bangladesh: Investigation shows government claims don’t add up – Mongabay.com

Clicky
If you liked this story, share it with other people.
Over the last two decades, Bangladesh has spent a large amount of money to restore its waterways by dredging the rivers across the country to clear some silt and sand. The government planned to make the waterways navigable for carrying goods and passengers, to reduce the pressure on roads and transportation costs.
According to the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), out of Bangladesh’s 24,000 kilometers (14,900 miles) of waterways, only about 6,000 km (3,730 mi) are navigable by mechanized vessels during the monsoons. During the dry seasons, this shrinks to about 3,800 km (2,360 mi).
In an effort to expand the waterways and ensure navigability throughout the year, Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) — under Bangladesh’s ministry of water resources — and BIWTA — under the shipping ministry — have been jointly managing the capital and maintenance of dredging every year for two decades under a master plan. This project is dependent on public money.
Capital dredging is a method of creating new waterways by increasing the depth of a channel by dredging, while maintenance dredging is a regular activity to clear silt and sediment from the channels of bigger rivers.
As per the master plan announced in 2012, 178 rivers are supposed to be dredged gradually over time to maintain regular navigation channels and create 10,000 km (6,213 mi) of new waterways. Of them, 53 rivers would be dredged under capital dredging initiatives. As part of the plan, the authority initially started river dredging activities in 24 rivers during the first phase.
For instance, in 2018, BIWTA took on a dredging project to restore four rivers — Old Brahmaputra, Tulai, Dharla, and Punarbhaba — with a budget of $370 million (43,710 million takas) under a dredging initiative. Of them, the plan for Old Brahmaputra was to dredge 227 km (141 mi) of the river from its off-take in Jamalpur to Kishoreganj with a budget of $231 million (27.63 billion takas).
Between May 3 and 17, Mongabay visited at least 40 points along the Old Brahmaputra, Tulai, Dharla and Punarbhaba rivers and found no exceptional development in waterway restoration. Moreover, the locals living close to the banks expressed frustration about the dredging work, saying they believe it has hampered their lives and livelihoods.
Another important ongoing dredging work is the restoration of the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route — the transboundary river route between Bangladesh and India — between Narayanganj district and Chittagong district, funded by a World Bank loan. In 2022, BIWTA awarded a $71 million (8.5 billion takas) contract to a Chinese company to dredge 800 km (497 mi) of rivers to boost transport routes via Bangladesh between mainland India and its northeastern states.
A major part of this route is via the Meghna River. Mongabay visited several points along the navigation route between May 25 and 27 and found most of them have remained the same as before, where the plying of large vessels seems impossible.
As per BIWTA’s 2017 notice, between 2009 and 2017, the country restored an estimated 547 km (340 mi) of waterways for all seasons. Furthermore, BIWTA’s 2022-23 annual report states that between 2010 and 2023, the volume of 3,700 km (2,300 mi) of waterways increased.
However, when Mongabay compared the government’s declaration on its website and the reality in the field, we found that the can be termed ‘only on paper’ in many cases. Two of the projects were examined more closely to investigate the reality.
Among all the dredging activities, the 227 kilometer-long (141 mile-long) dredging work in the Old Brahmaputra River between Jamalpur district and Kishoreganj district is the significant one. Our investigation found the project failed to improve navigation, and rather raised serious concerns about its execution and environmental impact among the riverside communities.
Dredging is intended to deepen waterways, improve navigation and maintain water flow. However, when conducted improperly, it can disrupt ecosystems and damage agricultural land.
A local farmer and seasonal boatman in Mymensingh district, Sirajul Islam, said he is frustrated because, despite the completion of the dredging project, the river’s water levels remain shallow, obstructing the passage of boats and other vessels.
“The dredging has been done, but there’s no change in the water level. It’s still too shallow for boats to navigate properly,” Siraj said. He said that the dredging contractor may not have followed proper procedures, which resulted in environmental damage.
“The contractors seem to have taken the dredged sand and dumped it on nearby agricultural lands, damaging the crops.”
Siraj’s concerns highlight significant issues with the effectiveness and environmental impact of the dredging project.
Moni Bin, a long-time resident of the riverbank, has witnessed the gradual decline of the waterway over the past two decades. Her riverside tea stall, once bustling with boatmen and passersby, faces a new issue — dust pollution. Sand dumped and transported by trucks has choked the air with dust, causing respiratory problems for Moni and others in the community, particularly children and the elderly.
“The dust hinders even basic chores like washing dishes and doing laundry, and it contaminates our food,” she said.
Local people from Jamalpur district shared similar sentiments to those of the residents from Mymensingh. “The authority claims the dredging is for our benefit, but our crops suffer from the sand dumped on our fields,” said Estellah, a farmer.
“The dredging disrupts the natural river flow, causing unpredictable water levels. It’s become impossible to cultivate crops properly anymore,” he said.
The incomplete and improperly conducted dredging has rendered the project ineffective, causing many problems locally. Shallow waters hinder navigation, dumped sand harms crops, dust pollution creates health problems, and altered waterflow disrupts irrigation.

Far from benefitting from the dredging, the people who live on the banks of Dharla, Tulai and Punarbhaba rivers describe various difficulties and anomalies that are a result of these activities.
Raisul Islam, a fisherman from Kakaidanga in the Biral region of Dinajpur district, catches fish from the Punarbhaba River. Lately, he is facing a hard time as the river has dried up at many points due to a lack of water flow, forcing the fish to disappear.
“Now I cannot catch even one kilogram of fish in a day as there is not enough water, and fish, in the river. If the whole river had been dredged to ensure its water flow, fish would have returned to the river,” he said.
Another fisherman* from Dinajpur Sadar on the Punarbhaba riverbank, said, “The river is being dredged only in some points while most of the river has remained the same. River dredging continues here only for sand trade. The river is being dredged in only such points where there are enough road connections to supply sands extracted from the river.”
Md. Al Amin, a resident who lives on the Dharla riverbank, said the authorities have been storing the dredged sand on the riverbanks. “Once the rain comes, the sands stored on the riverbanks return to the river as runoff, resulting in a filled up riverbed,” he said.
“They dredged about 200 feet last year and deposited the sand on its bank, and later the sand was sold via leases. However, the dredging itself did not benefit the river or the people. The way the river is being dredged every year will not bring any benefit at all,” said a resident* of the Tulai Riverbank.
Regarding the government’s claim on new waterways through dredging and our findings, Mongabay tried to contact former brigadier general M. Sakhawat Hussain, advisor to Bangladesh’s ministry of shipping, and BIWTA’s chief engineer Rokibul Islam Talukder and additional chief engineer Md. Saidur Rahman several times via phone calls, text messages and emails but failed to get any comments.

Due to the economic benefits and to lower the carrying cost of goods between Bangladesh and neighboring India, a protocol for using Bangladesh’s waterways was signed in 1972.
As per the protocol, the primary goal of the agreement is to enhance economic growth between the countries. By increasing its trade with India, Bangladesh would benefit from the services it offers to Indian vessels during their voyage, which would further facilitate growth in their service industry and enhance other logistics and businesses. Since Bangladesh is looking for opportunities to export to India’s northeastern states, the protocol opens various opportunities for Bangladesh to strengthen its trade, which will, in turn, generate revenues.
However, due to the rivers’ lack of navigable depth and cargo operators’ interest, the number of inland waterway traffic movements between Bangladesh and India has not yet reached a satisfactory figure.
Data shows that only 3 of the 11 declared routes are used regularly, and the rest are used irregularly. Some are not used even once a year.
The unused Protocol Route results from poor navigability and less demand, said Maminul Haque Sarker, senior advisor on river, delta and coastal morphology at the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS).
Manimul blamed poor navigability as the main cause of the protocol route’s ineffectiveness. “Most routes carry huge amounts of sediment, reducing the cargo ships’ navigability. Secondly, the demand for the routes is not created for the users as the routes cannot be compatible with larger vessels. Naturally, the operators often cannot be interested as running small vessels cannot guarantee them the profit from the trips,” he said.
Waterway transportation is known for being cost friendly and environmentally friendly, making it the best alternative to land routes. A 2016 World Bank study showed that carrying one ton of goods per kilometer (0.62 mi) costs $0.0083 (0.99 taka) via waterways, $0.023 (2.74 takas) when transported via railways, and $0.038 (4.50 takas) by road.
A large part of Bangladesh is an active delta formed by the sediments carried by the rivers flowing down from the Himalayan region. Bangladesh and India share at least 54 such rivers in common and agriculture, navigation, inland fisheries and other economically significant activities are hugely dependent on these rivers’ waters.
Data from a 2021 study shows that, annually, these rivers and water bodies carry around 2.4 billion tons of sediments like sand, clay and silt.
Dredging is an integral part of Bangladesh’s river system maintenance. It has long been used to maintain the busy channels in major rivers like the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna.
Saiful Alam, former director general of Bangladesh’s Water Resources Planning Organization (WARPO), said that dredging in the deltaic nation’s rivers is necessary to clear the waterways for the monsoon and winter seasons. However, the government’s implementation of river dredging is not properly scientific, which ultimately makes the expenditure a misuse of money, he said.
Citing the example of Old Brahmaputra river dredging, the water resource specialist added, “The ongoing dredging in the river is not scientific, as the authority dredges primarily on those portions of the rivers where water availability is more than the other drier parts. At the same time, the confluence of the river at the source is completely closed during dry periods, which fails to ensure the flow.”
The dredgers lift the sand from the riverbed and stack it on the banks directly, which eventually wash into the river with rain. The same scenario has been seen in almost all the dredging projects in the country. Consequently, money is spent on all these projects, but navigability is not ensured, Saiful said.
Hydrology expert Ainun Nishat, former vice-chancellor of BRAC University, agreed with Saiful. He said that, besides extensive dredging work, the rivers need proper management, like maintaining channels and protecting embankments. Otherwise, he said, silts will close the channels within a short time.
Both water resources experts are doubtful about the government’s claims. They said they are also confused about the volume of new waterways as they have not seen such new waterways in the near past.

Bitcoin Reserve Is ‘Hopium Hallucination,’ Blockchain Expert Says – U.Today

Bob McElrath, former blockchain architect at Fidelity Investments, has poured cold water on the idea of creating a strategic Bitcoin reserve in the U.S., describing it as a “hopium hallucination.”
“It’s a dumb idea. Don’t expect the US to pump your bags. Bitcoin is small fry compared to the US economy,” he said.
The possibility of the U.S. government creating a Bitcoin reserve has emerged as one of the main bullish catalysts.
As reported by U.Today, MicroStrategy cofounder Michael Saylor has urged the U.S. government to sell gold in favor of Bitcoin.
Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming originally introduced the idea of creating a strategic Bitcoin reserve in her bill that was filed earlier this year. The proposal has since gained signfincat traction, with many pundits debating whether or not this would be a prudent move for the U.S. government.
However, even some of the most prominent Bitcoin supporters are doubtful that the U.S. government will create such a reserve. As reported by U.Today, Galaxy CEO Mike Novogratz predicted that a Bitcoin reserve would likely fail to be implemented. However, if it does happen, the crypto mogul expects to surge as high as $500,000.
The idea has also attracted very strong pushback from some pundits outside the cryptocurrency space.
“The main argument for a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve seems to be that Bitcoin holders worry about an impending shortage of greater fools and need the US government to act as the greatest fool of last resort,” David Frum, a senior editor at “The Atlantic,” recently wrote on social media.
James Surowiecki, author of “The Wisdom of Crowds,” has opined that there is no strategic need for the U.S. to hold Bitcoin.

PayPal Honey browser extension accused of misleading consumers and creators – SiliconANGLE News

UPDATED 18:48 EST / DECEMBER 23 2024
by Duncan Riley
Honey, a browser extension and coupon site owned by PayPal Holdings Inc. since 2019, is being accused of deceptive practices that potentially harm both consumers and content creators.
The accusations come from YouTube creator MegaLag, who claims in a recent 23-minute long YouTube video that the popular extension engages in unethical practices such as intercepting affiliate commissions intended for influencers and selectively promoting discount codes from its business partners over potentially better deals.
MegaLag’s investigation also alleges that the manipulation not only deprives content creators of fair earnings but also misleads consumers, undermining the platform’s promise of delivering the best discounts.
The first accusation involves Honey’s alleged interception of affiliate commission links shared by influencers and others. It’s accused of replacing affiliate tracking codes with its own during the checkout process, effectively redirecting the commission to itself. If true, Honey essentially is stealing the revenue streams of content creators who rely on affiliate marketing as a primary source of income.
The second accusation from MegaLag is that Honey prioritizes discount codes from its business partners over more substantial savings available elsewhere. MegaLag’s investigation claims that the extension’s algorithm is designed to promote codes that benefit Honey’s affiliates rather than presenting the best available deal to users and, in doing so, misleads consumers, as the platform markets itself as a tool to maximize savings during online shopping.

PayPal and Honey are yet to respond to the accusations directly, but a spokesperson for Honey told Fortune that “Honey is free to use and provides millions of shoppers with additional savings on their purchases whenever possible” and that “Honey follows industry rules and practices, including last-click attribution.”
Honey does make much of its money from affiliate commissions, which it inserts on web pages such as Amazon.com Inc. and other retailers. But intercepting existing affiliate links for its own profit is another matter. Though perhaps not illegal, there’s certainly a strong moral dimension.
But if Honey is truly not presenting the best deals in favor of business partners, that’s a much more serious accusation. If true, Honey could be breaching various U.S. laws such as the FTC Act Section 5, covering unfair or deceptive practices, the Consumer Review Fairness Act and the Lanham Act for false advertising.
