President Biden Announces $2.5 Billion in New Security Aid for Ukraine

On Monday, President Joe Biden unveiled a new $2.5 billion security assistance package for Ukraine as his administration ramps up aid ahead of his departure from office in January. The latest allocation includes a $1.25 billion drawdown package for the Ukrainian military and a $1.22 billion Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) package.

Since the onset of Russia’s invasion nearly three years ago, the United States has provided more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine. President Biden emphasized the urgency of maximizing assistance while in office, signaling strong support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and defense capabilities.

The Department of Defense confirmed that all remaining USAI funds appropriated in April’s supplemental budget have now been allocated. This reflects a broader strategy to bolster Ukraine’s military readiness and provide critical resources in its ongoing conflict with Russia.

The White House continues to advocate for robust international support for Ukraine, aiming to ensure stability in the region. This latest aid package underscores the U.S. commitment to standing by Ukraine in its fight for freedom and territorial integrity.
