Washington Park residents, leaders and partners gathered last month for a Quality of Life Plan “Dine and Dialogue” to brainstorm ways to improve the neighborhood.
The community convening, hosted by Rooted & Rising Washington Park and Athena Communications on Nov. 19, was aimed at collecting insights from residents and stakeholders committed to the Washington Park neighborhood.
Residents addressed concerns and potential solutions surrounding youth development, economic development, housing, public safety, domestic violence and sex trafficking.
The dialogue was meant to build on the work of Washington Park’s Sustainable Community Plan, which was launched in 2012.
The ultimate goal, according to Adrian Spencer, the director of neighborhood engagement for Rooted & Rising Washington Park, is to motivate residents to participate in making Washington Park a better and safer place to live.
Last month’s discussion is one of many the groups will be holding to collect feedback to be compiled and analyzed to support the creation of a comprehensive quality of life plan that will will help guide the sustainability of the Washington Park neighborhood.
