New lawsuit aims to stop demolition of Urban Government Center – WAVE 3

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A group is suing Louisville to stop a planned development project at the Urban Government Center.
In the lawsuit, the German-Paristown Neighborhood Association claims the city violated procedures when awarding the project to a developer. The neighborhood association wants to stop any planned demolition of the site off Barrett Avenue and stop any plans to transfer the land to the developers.
Developers have plans to turn the former Urban Government Center into apartments, a hotel, office space, shops, and a parking garage.
The building was fully vacated by Metro government in 2016.
