National Football League player Ben Cleveland of the Baltimore Ravens has been charged with drunken driving in Georgia. An incident report obtained by The Associated Press on Tuesday states that the former University of Georgia star football player was pulled over by a sheriff’s deputy near Milledgeville, Georgia, last Wednesday. In the report, a deputy says he noticed that Cleveland’s black pickup was weaving outside of its lane and left the roadway at one point. The AP left emailed messages seeking comment with multiple representatives of the Ravens.
Marian Turski, a Holocaust survivor who became a journalist and historian in postwar Poland and was a co-founder of Warsaw’s landmark Jewish history museum, has died. He was 98. The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews announced his death on Tuesday and described him as a person of exceptional moral and intellectual qualities who always stood on the side “of minorities, the excluded, the wronged.” Turski survived the Lodz ghetto, two death marches and imprisonment at the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp in what was then German-occupied Poland. He captured international attention with a stark warning about the dangers of indifference five years ago on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Ludvig Aberg is the kind of player Jon Rahm once worried about. It was October 2022 when Rahm was still with the PGA Tour. A fellow Spaniard had gone to the Saudi-funded LIV league and Rahm said the tour needed to give college players a direct path to the big leagues like in other sports. That already was in the works. PGA Tour University began offering the No. 1 college senior a card. In the first year it went to Aberg. Now the Swede has three wins, more than $18 million in earnings and is No. 4 in the world.
Businesses are shuttered and public transport is at a standstill in Colombia’s Choco department, as rebels from the National Liberation Army launched a three-day “armed strike” that confines civilians to their homes and restricts commercial activity. The move comes as violence worsens in several rural areas of Colombia, including the Choco region, where 1,600 people have been displaced from their homes over the past two weeks, according to Colombia’s human rights ombudsman’s office. On Monday, the U.S. embassy in Bogota issued a security alert, urging American citizens in the Choco region to leave the area “as soon as possible.”
People who lost their homes to Hurricane Helene or California wildfires could get a sizeable tax break to move to Wisconsin. State Rep. Cindi Duchow and state Sen. Dan Feyen are sponsoring a bill that would give anyone who moves to Wisconsin from North Carolina or Los Angeles County due to the hurricane or the fires a $10,000 income tax credit for 2025. Duchow and Feyen introduced the bill Tuesday. They say in a memo seeking co-sponsors that the bill could help alleviate chronic workforce shortages in Wisconsin. The bill’s prospects are unclear. Spokespeople for Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu didn’t immediately respond to messages. Neither did a spokesperson for Gov. Tony Evers.

The Monaco Grand Prix has long been nicknamed “the jewel in Formula 1’s crown” but for all the sparkle, the racing has often been dull. That could change with a planned rule change that would require drivers to stop in the pits at least twice, potentially shuffling the running order on Monaco’s narrow streets at least a little. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says it would mean a minimum two stops per race, rather than the current one, and for cars to use three different tire compounds.

The person confirmed the deal to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because it was pending a physical. The veteran infielder can earn an additional $2.5 million in bonuses. The addition of Turner would give the team some security at third base should Matt Shaw need more seasoning in the minors. The 23-year-old Shaw has been slowed by a left oblique issue in spring training. The 40-year-old Turner also could back up Michael Busch at first base and go into the lineup at designated hitter.
