TOPICS:
A yearly tradition for many, the Puppy Bowl airs before the Super Bowl and highlights two teams of adoptable dogs facing off for the Lombarky Trophy.
During the game, many dogs and shelters are featured stressing the importance of adopting animals.
Locally, the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in Clarks Summit may have some MVPs of its own just waiting to be adopted.
“You’re helping your community at the end of the day. Those animals came from your community. At Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, we don’t pull animals from the south. We’re rescuing animals right here in our community,” said Sherry Crolly developmental director for the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
The shelter has a variety of dogs and cats, both purebred and mixed spanning a wide range of ages.
Those at the shelter encourage any potential adopters to do their research before putting in an application and to find an animal suited to their family’s lifestyle.

Woke Platform, Comedy Or Zero Justification: Ranveer Allahbadia Toasted For Disgusting Comment On Parental Intercourse – Republic World

Published 01:11 IST, February 10th 2025
New Delhi: Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, is under hot water for a controversial remark made on Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent. The parody talent show, known for its edgy humour, has now found itself at the centre of a heated debate over the limits of comedy.
During a recent episode, Ranveer asked an inappropriate question to a contestant, asking, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” The Youtuber’s question triggered massive outrage on social media, with many calling it distasteful and unacceptable.
Several users took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their disapproval.
One user slammed Allahabdia’s comment, stating, “Woke mindset, horrible upbringing—using someone’s parents for a TV show!”
Another wrote, “This BeerBiceps guy, Ranveer Allahbadia, is a tharki opportunist. He, Samay Raina, and the likes of Dhruv Rathee and Akash have the same agenda.”
Another post read, “Ranveer Allahbadia’s video is beyond offensive. Rape jokes or incest jokes—there is no ‘just a joke’ excuse here!”
The controversy has raised questions about the show’s content and its handling of sensitive topics.
Critics argue that India’s Got Latent, despite its popularity, often crosses the line under the guise of humour.
The show, hosted by comedian and social media influencer Samay Raina, has gained traction for its mix of unconventional talent and dark humour.
Guest judges include Ashish Chanchlani, Apoorva Mukhija (The Rebel Kid), and other well-known internet personalities.
Over time, India’s Got Latent has featured celebrities like Urfi Javed, Rakhi Sawant, Tanmay Bhat, Farah Khan, Bharti Singh, Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Raftaar, Poonam Pandey, Tony Kakkar, Avika Gor, and Raghu Ram. While their presence adds to the show’s appeal, the recent backlash suggests that audiences are drawing a line between edgy comedy and outright offensive content.
With social media users calling for accountability, the debate continues over whether such remarks can be excused as comedy—or if they reveal a deeper problem with the way humour is approached in OTTs.

MITCHELL — The Mitchell Board of Education will learn more about the district instructional literacy coaches when it meets next in regular session.

Joe Childs, superintendent for the Mitchell School District, told the audience at Thursday’s State of the School’s presentation that the district has three new literacy coaches on staff this year who are working to improve reading skills for students at all levels.
“New this year, we have three literacy coaches that work in our elementary schools. They spend half of their time working with teachers providing professional development, and half of their time is direct instruction,” Childs said at the Thursday presentation. “There’s been a lot of discussion about the science of reading. There is a state initiative now, and it’s become an initiative in the Mitchell School District, and it focuses on phonics. Part of our empowerment is to make sure our teachers are up to speed with all the resources they need to teach reading.”
The coaches spend half of their day supporting classroom instruction during CORE 95% phonics time, or Tier 1. The literacy coaches work alongside every K-5 teacher once a week, according to information in the meeting agenda item. The other half of the day is dedicated to providing small-group instruction in a Tier 2 model for 30 minutes, with each coach leading a group during Tier 2 time at each grade level.
No action is expected on the subject at the meeting, the presentation is expected to be for the board’s information only.
