Local blood drive encourages community members to donate and save a life – WIBW

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)—Community members, family, and friends were invited to Saturday’s “My Father’s Business” blood drive.
Whether walking in or scheduling an appointment, organizer Melissa Watson said this is a season when blood is needed most.
Watson stressed the need for blood within the community and the downfalls presented when in short supply.
“We are in an emergency state concerning the blood and the need for blood. Just knowing that the need for blood is a major thing right now, this was something I just decided to step out on and see what we could do and see how I could help if I could help,” said Watson.
Also at the blood drive were several vendors including Aunties Coffee & Native Wellness Cafe, Nita’s Customizing, and Loveys Weh (favor1717@gmail.com).
The blood drive runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
