As Jasmine Mitchell is crowned Bake Off champion for 2025, we take a look at other moments when reality TV stars have spoken about their Christian faith. From Big Brother to Love Island, here’s just a few contestants who have pointed to Jesus
Jasmine Mitchell is taking home the iconic Great British Bake Off cake stand after wowing judges in this week’s final with a 1.2-metre-tall masterpiece – the largest cake in the show’s history.
But the 23-year-old medical student doesn’t think her baking prowess was the only reason she triumphed – it was also the strength she found in God. In the pressure-cooker of the tent, she told Premier that prayer and reliance on Jesus were her anchors.
Edinburgh-born Jasmine, who has spoken openly about her relationship with God throughout her time on the show, said in her first interview: “My Christian faith was central for me… I really could not have done it in my own strength.
“I think I prayed more during the competition than I ever have before in my life. When I felt stressed, exhausted or inadequate, I would pause and send up a quick prayer.” She added: “I feel that I was grounded by God and given such peace during the whole process.”
But Jasmine is not the only reality TV star who has named her faith publicly and sought to live it out in the spotlight. As well as The Traitor’s Harry Clarke and Rev Lisa Coupland, here’s five more reality TV stars who are proud to speak about their Christian faith.

Before entering the Love Island villa in 2019, Tommy Fury had only two professional fights – but his time on the show, coupled with his relationship with Molly-Mae Hague, catapulted him to nationwide fame.
The boxer – brother of heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury – quickly became one of the most recognisable faces from the series, but he has never shied away from speaking about his Christian faith.
The 26-year-old said he speaks to God “every day” and credits Jesus with all that he has achieved.
When he beat rival KSI in a cruiserweight contest in Manchester in 2023, Tommy told a packed arena: “First things first, I want to thank my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for this victory tonight, without him, none of this would be possible.”

Since her dramatic win on The X Factor in 2008 – and subsequent success as a singer and West End star – Alexandra Burke has spoken openly about the quiet strength of her Christian faith.
She has said that prayer helps her cope with the pressures of performing, particularly during her time on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. “There is no joking when it comes to praying – I’m always praying,” she explained.
Alexandra, 37, whose cover of ‘Hallelujah’ became the Christmas number one in 2008, said going to church was “a really important part of my life” and helped her remain “positive, hopeful and thankful”.
Speaking on BBC’s Songs of Praise, she said: “From a very young age, I wanted to sing Gospel. And as I’ve grown up in the music industry, I’ve always said to myself, whenever I release music, because I’m a Christian, I always want to make sure that the message I’m giving out in my music is positive, is with love and always has the spiritual aspect to it.”

Glyn Wise made a memorable entrance into the Big Brother house in 2006 wearing his lifeguard uniform, and went on to charm viewers, finishing as runner-up.
He later revealed that faith had quietly sustained him through the experience – even if he tried to keep it hidden at the time.“When I was in the house, I used to pray under the covers, because I felt like being a Christian wasn’t cool,” he said.
Glyn went on to become a children’s TV and radio presenter. But in April 2022, he announced he was training to become an ordained minister in the Church in Wales.
Now 37, he regularly posts videos with reflections on his faith and the Bible to his 10.7K followers on TikTok.
In one, he recalled getting his A-level results in the Big Brother diary room, telling followers: “God doesn’t want you to be worried or anxious, God wants you to have peace. The Bible says for us to give our worries and anxieties over to God.”

Love Island winner Liberty Poole has described how finding God helped pull her out of depression – and admits she “can’t keep quiet” about her new-found faith.
In a TikTok video that reached more than 55,000 viewers, the 26-year-old shared how her Christian faith became real during one of the lowest points in her life. “I’ve never spoken about my faith on here before,” she admitted. “I’ve honestly never felt worthy enough to.”
She explained that her prayers led her to attend church, where she heard a sermon that mentioned influencers – a moment she describes as a direct call to her heart.
“All I had in that moment, because I had nothing left, was just to hold onto God,” she said. Liberty believes it was God’s power that pulled her out of depression and gave her a renewed sense of hope and identity.
Liberty, who has appeared on Dancing on Ice, This Morning and Loose Women, says she now has more courage to speak publicly about her faith. “Christians get a lot of hate because they don’t conform to modern-day views,” she said, “but I’ve got nothing but love in my heart for everyone out there… my faith in God is something I can no longer be quiet on.”

When Big Brother crowned Cameron Stout its winner in 2003, the softly spoken fish trader from Orkney became an unlikely household name. During his time in the house, Cameron made headlines for his openness about his evangelical Christian beliefs – at a time when speaking about faith on national TV was far from common.
He talked candidly about prayer, grace and sexual purity, saying he wanted to live out his convictions even under the scrutiny of millions of viewers.
Cameron vowed that if he scooped the cash prize, he would buy his church in Orkney a new piano – a promise he later kept. Now back on the island, he is often seen leading Sunday worship services.
Reflecting on his experience, he said recently: “It’s a cliché to say we depend most on God when we have nothing else to turn to, but it’s true. With no family and friends around, I felt naked – but the experience was littered with special moments of God’s grace.”
Cameron, 54, who chose to take a Bible as his book into the house, admitted that towards the end of the series he worried he had “shown the Christian faith in a bad light and let God down.”
But he remembers reading Psalm 91 one day while in the house. He recalled: “I couldn’t believe that in 20 years I’d never read that Psalm! I really believe God saved it for me for when I needed it most. It was a gift for me – the idiot who applied for Big Brother. God’s grace was lavished on me and carried me through.”
