ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Rockford Christian is in the Super Sixteen of Class 2A teams with a shot at a girls volleyball state title.
Tuesday they punched their first ticket to the sectional finals with a sweep over Westmont in the sectional semifinals. The Royal Lions lost in this round each of the last three seasons.
RC won both sets 25-17.
“The seniors are really determined this season. The last three years they have been knocked out in this round so I think they came in with a whole different mindset and the idea of we’re going to make Rockford Christian volleyball history,” said Head Coach Bryanna Weiskircher-Moore. “They’ve really bought into what this coaching staff is selling and I think they are phenomenal group of not only athletes but human beings.”
They will face Richmond-Burton at 6 p.m. Thursday at Boylan in the sectional championship.
