Christian McCaffrey continues to etch his name in NFL record books.
In the 49ers’ 34-24 win over the New York Giants, McCaffrey found the end zone twice with one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown. It was his 16th career game with one or more rushing touchdowns and one or more receiving touchdowns, the most in NFL history.

McCaffrey broke the tie with Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk, who had 15 of those games. It was McCaffrey’s first time achieving the feat since Week 15 of the 2023 NFL season against the Arizona Cardinals. He scored both ways in four games during the 2023 season in which he won NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
“Christian’s the most conditioned, prepared athlete I’ve ever been around. He’s such a big factor in blocking, running [and] passing,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters after the game. “He’s one of the best players I’ve ever been around.”
The star running back’s performance at MetLife Stadium on Sunday was the seventh time he recorded a rushing and receiving touchdown in a game as a 49er, the most in franchise history. Roger Craig previously held the record with five games.
With his receiving touchdown in the first quarter against the Giants on Sunday, McCaffrey inched closer to another record held by Faulk, notching his 33rd receiving touchdown. Faulk holds the record for most touchdown receptions by a running back in the Super Bowl Era with 36.

McCaffrey’s overall usage, specifically in the passing game, has been crucial for San Francisco as it continues to weather injuries to key contributors. The 49ers’ star running back leads the NFL with 1,222 scrimmage yards in nine games played this season.
On Sunday, McCaffrey totaled 106 rushing yards in 28 carries and 67 receiving yards on five receptions. It was his 65th career game registering 100 or more scrimmage yards, the most among active NFL running backs.
McCaffrey will look to add to his record totals in the 49ers’ Week 10 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. In San Francisco’s Week 5 win, the Rams held McCaffrey to just 57 rush yards but allowed him to rack up 82 receiving yards along with a receiving touchdown.
