Nicki Minaj sparks outrage after sharing Donald Trump’s post about Christian persecution in Nigeria
Nicki Minaj is under fire for her recent comments on Christianity and religious violence in Nigeria after she shared a post from former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The rapper reposted Trump’s message claiming “thousands of Christians are being killed” in Nigeria, thanking him for bringing attention to the issue and expressing her gratitude for religious freedom in the United States.
“Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude,” Minaj wrote. “We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be persecuted for practising their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”
However, her remarks quickly drew backlash online. Many social media users accused her of spreading misinformation and fueling religious division. One commenter wrote, “There’s no campaign against Christians in Nigeria. Boko Haram attacks everyone — including Muslims.” Others pointed out her silence on Christian persecution in other regions, such as Gaza, suggesting her post was politically motivated.
According to the BBC, data from organizations tracking violence in Nigeria shows no evidence that Christians are being killed at a higher rate than Muslims.
This isn’t the first time Nicki Minaj has sparked controversy for her political opinions. In recent weeks, she’s publicly praised Donald Trump while criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 U.S. election, further dividing her fanbase.
Her latest comments continue to stir debate, as fans question whether her posts are genuine expressions of concern or political alignment with Trump’s rhetoric.
