Paul mentions two individuals in Colossians 4:14, Luke and Demas. Each of these men was created and gifted differently. Yet, in partnership, they brought diverse contributions to the work. In unity and partnership, it is crucial that we recognize the importance of individuals bringing their unique contributions to the table because together we are stronger and better than we are individually at carrying out the task.
Uniquely Made. Each individual is wonderfully created (Psalm 139:14), showcasing God’s craftsmanship (Ephesians 2:10) and purposefully formed in the womb (Jeremiah 1:5). No two people are the same, as everyone is fashioned in God’s image (Genesis 1:26-27). God intentionally assembles us with purpose, for His glory (Isaiah 43:7). We are uniquely and precisely formed.
