On the afternoon of 27 November, Gospel Herald reporter went to the fire scene at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po to check on the situation. Amid the crowd’s heavy mood, the reporter noticed a man whose backpack had a keychain that read “prayer warrior.” When the reporter approached and asked, he found that the man was a Christian professional named Moses, and interviewed him on the spot.
When asked why he had come to the scene, brother Moses’s eyes reddened slightly and he replied earnestly, “Because I care about this place.” He explained that he saw news of the fire the previous day and did not want to learn about the disaster only through television but wanted to come in person. “I told the Lord that if I come and see, He will definitely see what is happening here; when He sees, He will work. I didn’t want to watch from afar on TV, so I wanted to come and look.” Even though he had to work, he made a point of coming specifically to pray and show support.
When the reporter asked whether he felt powerless when faced with the inferno, Moses responded firmly: “We who believe in Jesus can call on God to intervene. Even though this has happened, we can still cry out to Him. Many people don’t believe in Jesus—that’s even harder—so we have no room to feel powerless.”
He continued, “I believe in my God. I don’t know why these things happen, but He helps us. Even in such a difficult situation, He still helps us—that is what I believe. So all we can do is to persist in prayer and pray with all our strength.”
Moses expressed confidence that God is with them and will bring blessing: “I believe this. … I believe God said that if He is with us, every place where we set our feet will bring blessing; therefore, wherever I walk will be blessed.”
He expects that this faith will change the spiritual reality: “I believe God’s promises, so I believe that when we pray, not only the physical realm but also the spiritual realm will change.” After this brief conversation, the reporter and brother Moses prayed together for the disaster‑stricken area. Moses added that his church’s brothers and sisters are deeply concerned about the disaster in the Tai Po community and are quietly offering intercession.
