Lately the concept of “Christian nationalism” has gained steam and notoriety within Indiana politics, most prominently popularized by Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith, a conservative Noblesville pastor who unabashedly believes the United States is a Christian nation.
The term itself has many associations, and many different groups disagree on them.
IndyStar examined what exactly Christian nationalism is, to what extent the principles hold ground within Indiana politics and governing, and what today’s adherents can learn from other movements throughout history that have used religion to advance a set of ideas.
