Penn State vs. Notre Dame: Preview, how to watch the College Football Playoff semifinal game – NCAA.com

⛹️‍♀️ Women's scores
🏟️ Cotton Bowl preview
🍊 Orange Bowl preview
No. 6 Penn State and No. 7 Notre Dame matchup in the College Football Playoff semifinals. Here is everything you need to know about how to watch the game.
Follow along here for live updates throughout the game
The 91st Orange Bowl features two of the top defenses in the nation, with each team sitting top five in points allowed per game. The Nittany Lions are allowing 15.8 points, while the Irish sit two points ahead at 13.8. Penn State entered the playoffs as the six seed after losing its conference title game to Oregon, and Notre Dame is in the semifinals as the seven seed, not receiving an opportunity for a first-round bye as an independent program.
Both teams have cruised to the semis, with Penn State beating SMU 38-10 and Boise State 31-14. The Irish took down Indiana in the first round 27-17 in a game that was not as close as the score indicates, before controlling two-seed Georgia 23-10 in the Sugar Bowl.
Both teams are powered offensively by their ground games, with each averaging over 200 rushing yards per contest. Penn State is led by the two-headed running back attack of Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton who each have posted over 1,000 yards on the ground this season. Notre Dame’s rushing attack is led by workhorse Jeremiyah Love at running back and dual-threat quarterback Riley Leonard who sits second on the team in rushing with over 750 yards.
There are two names to watch out for defensively for each team — Abdul Cater for PSU and Xavier Watts for ND. Carter, likely a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, is an explosive edge rusher for the Nittany Lions, tallying 11 sacks on the season. He went out with an apparent arm injury in the first half against Boise State, and his status remains unanswered heading into the weekend. Penn State will certainly hope for his return come next Thursday.
Watts is a two-time All-American safety for the Irish, who leads his team with six interceptions and a forced fumble on the year. He is a quarterback’s worst nightmare in the secondary, and Notre Dame will rely on him again in the Orange Bowl.
Here is how the two teams matchup:
Notre Dame and Penn State have faced off 19 times, with the series tied 9-9-1 all-time. The most recent matchup between the two powerhouses came in 2007, where the Nittany Lions prevailed 31-10. The two teams met every November between 1981 and 1992. They have only played twice (2006 and 2007) since the annual matchup concluded.
Arguably the most memorable game between the two programs came in in the early 90s, in what is remembered as the 1992 Snow Bowl. No. 22 Penn State led No. 8 Notre Dame 16-9 with under 30 seconds to play on a snowy Saturday in South Bend. Irish quarterback Rick Mirer found future Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis for six, and legendary Notre Dame head coach Lou Holtz went for two, sealing the win 17-16 on Nov. 14, 1992.
The winner of the Orange Bowl will take the all-time series lead in the renewed rivalry.
The winner of No. 6 Penn State and No. 7 Notre Dame will face the winner of No. 5 Texas and No. 8 Ohio State in the CFP national championship.

First State Educate plans to reform the Delaware education system in 2025. – WMDT

DELAWARE. – The public education system in Delaware has been at the forefront for several years. Local non-profit organizations hope to address issues that plagued the system in 2025.
One local group, First State Educate, plans to rework many areas for the state. Executive Director Julia Keleher insists the mission is simple. “We’re empowering the community and building systems and processes where they can stand up and solve their problems. We’re just facilitating success.”
There are many areas of improvement in school districts, one being the disparity in local funding. Keleher believes this has caused a strain in the community.
“There’s local property assessment, so there’s local revenue, and that’s when the disparity comes in. That’s based on property value, and in more affluent areas, you’re going to get more revenue, and you create this have and have not system.”
She offers her solution to the problem; “We want high-quality public education. Inevitably, there will be tough conversations about what needs to be defunded or reallocated to increase spending. Especially if you don’t increase taxes to get more revenue, but nobody likes that conversation.”
These problems have caused a teacher shortage in Delaware. First State Educate will collaborate with local school districts to help with procedures.
“For districts willing and interested in working on policies related to teacher recruitment, the conditions of teaching and learning, and compensation.”
Keleher believes Delaware has a ton of potential. Groups like FSE and Rodel can change the state for the better.
“It’s manageable, there’s a million people, there’s three counties. There are around 145,000 public school students. There’s 202 schools, and approximately 45 of those are charter schools.”

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 system requirements – PCGamesN

A powerful gaming PC isn’t needed to run this medieval RPG with low graphics presets, but anything higher will require more powerful specs.

Published:
What are the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 system requirements? This anticipated heavy-hitting medieval RPG sequel is set to run well on older gaming PCs and laptops, with reasonable minimum specs at the lower end of the spectrum. Gamers with newer rigs, meanwhile, won’t struggle to max out those frame rates, especially if they’ve got an Nvidia RTX 40-series GPU installed.
To play Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 when it releases on February 4, 2025, you’re not going to need the most powerful PC out there, unless you’re playing on the highest Ultra graphics preset using the high resolution presets. If that’s the case, you’ll need one of the best graphics card models you can buy to run the game at 1,440p or 4K resolution. For basic 1,080p gaming at 30fps, however, an older card like the GTX 1060 will do the job.
Here are the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 system requirements:
If you’re concerned whether or not your gaming PC has the mettle to battle through medieval Bohemia, you can take our Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 system requirements PC benchmark test to answer… Can I run Kingdom Come Deliverance 2?
The Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 minimum system requirements are pretty reasonable, all factors considered. To get this game running at 1,080p with a target 30fps frame rate, you’ll need at least an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 graphics card, along with an Intel Core i5 8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 gaming CPU.
That’s good news for older gaming PC and laptop owners. As long as you’ve bought or built your machine within the last seven or eight years, there’s a strong possibility that you’ll have the specs required to run around with your swords flailing high. With a 30fps frame rate target, however, the game might end up feeling as choppy as your sword throws.
If you want to take your settings up a notch, the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 recommended system requirements are split in two for both 1,080p and 1,440p gameplay, but be warned: these specs are certainly more taxing on your hardware at this point. You can leave that GTX 1060 behind right now.
To run the game with the medium graphics preset at 1,080p with 60fps, you’ll need an entry-level GPU from the last two generations. That means either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT as a minimum, along with either an Intel Core i5 13600K or AMD Ryzen 5 7600X for your CPU, as well as 24GB of the best gaming RAM.
If you want to run the graphics settings a little higher at 1080p, you can switch up to a high graphics preset with a lower 30fps target frame rate. As before, a lower frame rate is going to make the game feel choppier, but that might be a sacrifice you’re willing to make for a better looking game overall.
Paradoxically, developer Warhorse Studios recommends slightly worse specs for your CPU and GPU here, thanks partly to the lower FPS target. Either an Intel Core i5 12600K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU or better is recommended, along with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5700 GPU. The RAM requirements are harsher, however, with an upgrade to 32GB recommended by the developer here.
If you’d rather run the game at 1,440p instead, you can get 60fps using the medium graphics preset with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6700XT GPU or better, as well as an Intel Core i5 13600K, AMD Ryzen 5 7600X or better CPU. Only 24GB of RAM is required for this preset level, too.
Scaling your settings up higher to play at 1,440p using the high graphics preset will mean an even better PC is required. Only an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics card or better is going to be sufficient here, along with either an Intel Core i7 13700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D for your gaming PC, while the RAM requirements are boosted up to 32GB.
The Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Ultra system requirements ratchet up the pressure even further, requiring a much more powerful PC or laptop in the process. For 1,440p gameplay at 60fps, or 4K gameplay at 30fps, you’ll need one of the best graphics cards out there – only an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900XT or better will do.
As for the CPU, an Intel Core i7 13700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is required here, along with 32GB of RAM. That doesn’t leave much room to maneuver, as only the best gaming laptops and PCs will have the juice required to run this game with those kinds of specs.
Whether you’re running an older PC or not, one key area of your PC that you can’t scrimp on is storage. The Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 download size is at least 100GB, with Warhorse Studios confirming that an SSD of that size is required.
To give yourself plenty of space and to avoid slow loading times, you may want to grab one of the best gaming SSD options you can buy right now to boost your storage capacity. A good option for this is the WD Black SN850X, which offers great performance at a reasonable cost as a modest PC upgrade.
Without a doubt, these system requirements are good news, on the whole, for gamers with older PCs or gaming laptops with lower specs. The barrier of entry for running this game at the lowest possible graphics presets is still quite low, with the nearly decade-old GTX 1080 even featuring on the original Kingdom Come Deliverance system requirements list. For any higher settings, however, you’re going to need a much more modern PC for your epic adventures, with plenty of RAM and a mid to top-tier graphics card and processor installed.
If you’re already excited for brutal and bloody battles throughout 15th-century Bohemia, check out our Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 guide for everything you need to know about this action RPG sequel. You might also want to check out our best gaming PC guide next if you’re ready for an upgraded rig that can help you match or beat these system requirements.

Teacher shortage focal point of Hawaiʻi Education Association summit, Jan. 8 – Maui Now

Privacy Policy | About Our Ads

Hawaiʻi’s top teachers were celebrated in October at Washington Place. The Hawaiʻi Education Association will convene a summit on Jan. 8 in Honolulu to address the state’s teacher shortage. File photo PC: Office of the Governor

Ending Hawaiʻi’s teacher shortage will be addressed by the Hawaiʻi Education Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the teaching profession and building a pipeline of teachers for the next generation, during its annual summit next month.
The association will convene from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at the YWCA, Elizabeth Fuller Hall, 1040 Richards St., in downtown Honolulu. The summit is titled, “Building the Future of Education in Hawaiʻi: Cultivating Tomorrow’s Teachers, Empowering Today’s Educators.”
Association President Joan Lewis said ending the teaching shortage must continue to be a kakou effort, with various members of the community striving to work together to find solutions.

Panel discussions will focus on collaboration to support a pipeline of teachers include representatives from the Hawaiʻi Department of Education, Hawaiʻi State Public Charter School Commission, Hawaiʻi Teacher Standard Board, Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association, Hawaiʻi P-20, Hawaiʻi Association of Independent Schools and the University of Hawaiʻi system campuses.
“At our summit this year, we will focus attention and support on high school students being recruited to become teachers. This aligns with the goals of the US Departments of Labor and Education to strengthen the homegrown pipeline for the teaching profession,” Lewis said. “We’re glad to be able to continue our support of teachers and students.”
Hawaiʻi is not alone in these challenges. Many other states across the nation also have a shortage of licensed teachers. According to a 2022 survey conducted by the Annenberg Institute at Brown University, there is a shortage of up to 52,800 vacant full-time teaching positions in the United States. Hawaiʻi ranks as one of the 10 states with the lowest teacher-to-state population ratio.
In addition to the local panels, the association has invited national board certified teacher Carla Warren, Ed.D., senior partner with National Center for Grow Your Own, who will share national trends with teacher cultivation and lessons for Hawaiʻi. She previously served as the Officer for the Division of Academic Support & Educator Development with the West Virginia Department of Education, leading multiple instructional and educator workforce initiatives.
Warren developed West Virginia’s Teacher Leader Framework to assist county school systems with codifying their teacher leadership practices. She has also been instrumental in designing and implementing the West Virginia Grow Your Own Teacher Pathway and securing Department of Labor funds to develop a teacher pre-apprenticeship program, the first in the country.
Following Warren’s lead, multiple state government agencies, including the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, Department of Education, and the Hawaiʻi Teachers Standard Board, are collaborating to establish an apprenticeship program in Hawaiʻi with a grant from the US Department of Labor.
In the meantime, the association is supporting 12 teachers from eight local high schools that are participating in Project Equal Access and piloting Educators Rising, a nationally recognized curriculum for high school students who are aspiring educators. The high schools include Farrington, James Campbell, Kauai, Maui, Mililani, Pearl City, Waiakea and Waipahu.
“We’re glad to be supporting the teachers involved in this pilot project by underwriting the cost of airfare for neighbor island teachers to meet together,” Lewis said. “This further supports the teaching profession by augmenting Career and Technical Education classes in the schools for those interested in pursuing teaching; Teaching As A Career clubs in the schools; and Education Academies that prepare public school students for careers in education.
Founded in 1921, the Hawaiʻi Education Association is a nonprofit that strives to improve education in Hawaiʻi. The association brings together educators from public, private and charter schools, professors and supporters to spark improvements in education for all educators and students statewide.

Meghan Markle Offers Life Lessons In Success, Resilience, & Grace – Forbes

Netflix Announces New Series, “With Love, Meghan”
The New Year is off to a challenging start with the domestic terrorism attacks in New Orleans and a bomb explosion in a Tesla at a Trump property. The passing of America’s 39th President Jimmy Carter has also cast a shadow on the start of this new Year.
As we leave 2024 behind and enter into this new season, we could all use an extra dose of grace, good cooking, laughter, joy and good manners. And NETFLIX as ever does not disappoint, Enter the Duchess of Sussex, also known as Princess Meghan, wife of the 6th in line to the British Throne, Prince Harry of Wales.
The Duchess, who has been the subject of much public and media scorn in the UK, made her return to social media public on New Year’s Day with a short black and white video shot by none other than Prince Harry himself. I for one, believe that there are lessons to be learned from her seven year hiatus from social media, as well as her triumphant return to instagram, and to Netflix with a new series that reminds her fans of her former lifestyle food BLOG “The TIG”.
I have been following Meghan’s rise as a successful millennial bi-racial woman, turned actress, and media power broker since she was a star on the hit TV series, “Suits” and, of course, once she began dating and ultimately married Princess Diana’s baby boy, Prince Harry. Like many women of color, I am proud of her global impact and celebrity, but I am deeply disappointed with how she has been treated by the Royal Family and the British media. Not to mention the horrible comments and smears leveled against Markle daily on social media. It has been non-stop since she married Prince Harry in 2018.
Although I am more than a decade Markle’s senior, I have learned a lot from her on how to handle your business rivals, personal detractors, and yes, even your downright “haters” too. Here are five (5) life lessons in grace and resilience that I think we can all take to heart from Meghan as we start 2025:
1.) Practice the Power of the Pause: Meghan took a seven year social media hiatus from Instagram. She backed up so she could catch her breath. Regain her perspective. And get on firm footing with her family and finances.
2.) Move in Secret—Launch in Public: Never let people know what you are up to until you are finished with the vision, and the planning in secret. Then and only then do you let people see the finished product, or watch you celebrate the win.
3.) Regain Your Strength-Lean into Love & Healing: Meghan and Harry left a very toxic environment in the UK. The moved where they had support and great opportunity in the US. And they leaned into one another despite the uproar, attacks and barbs thrown against them.
4.) Do Not Dim Your Light: Meghan knows full well her power. She also knows that she is a lightening rod for haters and people who want to pit her against Princess Catherine of Wales. And yet, she does not shrink from telling her truth, building her brand, and gleefully spreading her light around the globe. Princess Diana would be proud.
5.) Come Back Bigger than Ever: Harry and Meghan have each in their own ways taken the world by storm. Harry’s book “Spare” broke records in publishing dating back to the publication of the King James Bible. And Meghan, answered her critics and haters not with equal acrimony, but by spreading light and love on the world’s biggest streaming platform, Netflix. As one of my mentors told me: “Success is the best revenge.”
These five lessons are just a few we can glean from the Duchess of Sussex. But they are powerful real life examples of powerful 21st century women living their best lives, by being true to themselves, and regardless of the noise of our modern world, dare to inspire others to do the same.
