Andy Jankowiak broke through for his first win in 15 starts at the PPL Center by executing a late race pass to perfection in Saturday night’s Ironton Global Allentown Indoor Auto Series TQ Midget Race.
The victory was the 36-year-old Tonawanda, NY native’s eighth with the Indoor Auto Racing Series Championship, putting himself firmly in third on the series’ all-time wins list.
“Not winning here bothered me so much,” Jankowiak said post-race. “I’ve left here so many times beating up on myself, so to go under that checkered flag knowing it was my day finally, it’s an incredible feeling and something that I won’t forget.”
Jankowiak started sixth when the 40-lap feature went green. However, he didn’t stay there for too long as he eventually found himself in third and beating down the rear bumper of Tanner VanDoren for second with 15 laps to go.
From there, both VanDoren and Jankowiak muscled around race long leader Anthony Sesely, setting up a war between a rising star and one of TQ Midget racing’s best. Jankowiak saw the opportunity to make his move with five to go as he sent his No. 57 down the inside of VanDoren in turn one. But the move wouldn’t count as the caution flew before the lap was finished.
On the restart, Jankowiak got the advantage on the outside and rocketed around VanDoren off turn two for the lead. Ryan Flores tried to make a last-ditch effort at the lead on the final lap but Jankowiak remained cool under pressure and ripped turn four for the win.
Flores settled for the runner-up position, missing out on the Ironton Auto Body Challenge – which would’ve sent the North Carolina native home with a $10,000 weekend. VanDoren, Sesely, and Kyle Lick completed the top five.
The Bob Hilbert Sportswear sponsored TQ Fast Time Award Saturday was earned by Matt Swanson following a speedy session in which drivers had multiple opportunities to improve their times. Swanson’s 7.473 came during his second run just as time expired. Andy Jankowiak (7.512), Briggs Danner (7.593), Tanner VanDoren (7.599) and Ryan Flores (7.601) completed the top five.
E Schneider & Sons sponsored the four TQ Midget heats. Kyle Lick, Andy Jankowiak, Shawn Nye and Anthony Sesely came out of the gripping races victorious by only a few car lengths each.
Aqua Duck Water Transport sponsored the TQ Saturday night B-Mains. Scott Krueter won a rugged first B-Main, while Briggs Danner took home the second one.
Todd Crenshaw of Winchester, VA put on a dominating display of driving in the 20-lap Champ Kart feature by shooting out front early and leaving the field behind all the way to the checkered flag.
Dylan Hoch of Mertztown, PA gapped the pack on several restarts and managed to fend off a late charge from Scott Neary in a slugfest to win the 20-lap Slingshot feature.
West End Equipment Rentals sponsored the Saturday night Champ Kart heat races. Those races were claimed by Quentin Graham Jr., Todd Crenshaw and Missy Bootes. Tanner Emmons captured the B-Main.
S&S Speedways sponsored the Saturday night Slingshot heat races, which were won by Dylan Hoch, John Redner, and Scott Neary. Alex Reinsmith won the B-Main.
Atlantic City is the next stop for the Indoor Auto Racing Championship as the TQ Midgets, Champ Karts, and Slingshots will be in action at Boardwalk Hall Jan. 31 & Feb. 1 for the NAPA Auto Parts Atlantic City Indoor Race. Tickets for both nights can be purchased at ticketmaster.com

South Korea's suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol ignored the objections of key Cabinet ministers before his failed martial law bid last month, according to a prosecutors' report seen Sunday.
Yoon plunged the country into political chaos on Dec. 3 with the bungled martial law declaration and has since holed up in his residence, surrounded by hundreds of security officers resisting arrest efforts.
The full 83-page prosecution report to indict former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun said the country's then-prime minister, foreign minister and finance minister all expressed reservations the night of the decision.

Porn in Florida: As age verification takes effect, some sites ignore it, some block access – Tallahassee Democrat
A Florida law requiring age verification to visit porn platforms online took effect on New Year’s Day, but a number of websites are either just blocking access in the state or not complying at all.
Pornhub, the most popular adult entertainment website in the world, is one of those barring access to those within state lines.
“While safety and compliance are at the forefront of our mission, giving your ID card every time you want to visit an adult platform is not the most effective solution for protecting our users,” said adult video star Cherie DeVille in a video that pops up on the platform for Florida visitors.
Meanwhile, the second most popular porn website, XVideos, is one of a number that weren’t requiring any age verification methods to see sexual content as of Friday morning. Representatives for XVideos didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Chase Sizemore, spokesperson for Florida Attorney Ashley Moody, said in a Thursday afternoon email that Moody’s office had received three complaints so far “regarding pornographic websites failing to comply with age verification laws.”
“These complaints are currently under active review by our Enforcement Division,” Sizemore said. The office is responsible for enforcing the law.
Despite DeVille’s remarks, the law doesn’t technically require porn users to submit pictures of an ID. It says sites “must offer anonymous age verification and standard age verification,” though it does not provide specifics for either format.
xHamster, another high-traffic adult website, does offer the option for users to verify their age through an ID document — plus a face scan. But it also offers a face scan that doesn’t require documentation, instead estimating users’ ages through artificial intelligence, as well as verification by connecting with a third-party identification app.
The law states the “nongovernmental, independent third party” offering the verification service can’t retain personal identifying information and must protect it from unauthorized access. But some porn companies say this isn’t possible.
“As recent high-profile data leaks have revealed, no web users are safe, and hackers are often able to exploit the slightest cracks in a website’s security,” reads a recent federal lawsuit filed by the Free Speech Coalition, a trade association for the adult entertainment industry, and others.
Those companies also accuse the law of running afoul of the First Amendment. It creates “a substantial burden on adults who want to access legal sites without fear of surveillance,” said Alison Boden, executive director of Free Speech Coalition, in a statement. “It is invasive and carries significant risk to privacy.”
In a previous statement to the USA TODAY NETWORK-Florida, Moody emphasized she would defend the law: “As a mother, and Florida’s Attorney General, I will fight aggressively in court to ensure the ability to protect Florida children.”
Moody has requested that a federal judge pause the proceedings on the lawsuit to wait for a U.S. Supreme Court decision on a similar case from Texas.
(This story was updated to reflect that XVideos remained accessible without age verification into Friday morning.)

Kingdom Come Deliverance is free to claim on the Epic Games Store today – Neowin
The Epic Games Store is continuing to roll out hits on its daily freebie promotion. Yesterday, it was the martial arts fighting entry Sifu that was up for grabs, and today, the mystery entry turned out to be Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
The Warhorse Studios-developed title has been given away on the store before, back in 2020, so you may already have it in your library.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an open-world role-playing experience set in Bohemia during the early 15th century. Coming in touting multiple awards, the game is highly recommended by many for its period-authentic story and gameplay systems. The story has you taking the role of Henry, the son of a blacksmith that sees his village being pillaged and slaughtered during an invasion. From then on, you slowly build up your status in this world, attempting to go from a nobody to someone with status and power.
Here’s how the developer sets up the story:
In the midst of this chaos, you’re Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Your peaceful life is shattered when a mercenary raid, ordered by King Sigismund himself, burns your village to the ground. By bittersweet fortune, you are one of the few survivors of this massacre.
Without a home, family, or future you end up in the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who is forming a resistance against the invasion. Fate drags you into this bloody conflict and shoves you into a raging civil war, where you help fight for the future of Bohemia.
Don’t forget that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is also in development at Warhorse Studios currently too, with it slated to land in February, 2025. Epic’s latest offer is a great opportunity to jump into the original game to experience it before the sequel.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is free to claim on the Epic Games Store until 8 am PT on January 2. Another mystery game will take its place when the freebie offer expires tomorrow.
