In a groundbreaking evening at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, FX’s adaptation of “Shogun” dominated the television categories, with Japanese stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai both taking home acting honors alongside the show’s drama series win.
The film categories saw the surreal “Emilia Perez” emerge as the night’s biggest winner, collecting four Golden Globes including best musical or comedy film and best non-English language film. The movie’s distinctive musical elements were further recognized with a win for best original song “El Mal,” while Zoe Saldana earned supporting actress honors.
“The Brutalist” proved to be another major force, securing three significant wins including best drama film. Brady Corbet claimed the directing prize, while Adrien Brody’s performance earned him best actor in a drama.
In television comedy, “Hacks” continued its awards success with Jean Smart winning best actress and the show taking best comedy series. “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White maintained his winning streak in the best actor category for a musical or comedy series.
Notable individual achievements included Sebastian Stan’s best actor win in a musical/comedy for “A Different Man” and Fernanda Torres’s dramatic actress victory for “I’m Still Here.” Kieran Culkin added to his recent accolades with a supporting actor win for “A Real Pain.”
In the limited series categories, “Baby Reindeer” emerged victorious, while established stars Colin Farrell and Jodie Foster won acting honors for “The Penguin” and “True Detective: Night Country” respectively.
