Financial firm PEAK6 announced it’s moving its global headquarters from Chicago to Austin, effective Jan. 1.
Financial firm PEAK6 Investments LLC is moving its global headquarters from Chicago to its existing Austin office effective Jan. 1, the company announced Friday.
The company, whose portfolio spans companies that deal in artificial intelligence, e-commerce and sports companies, praised the Texas capital's educated workforce, business climate and entrepreneurial spirit.
“Texas has been a cornerstone of PEAK6’s growth for over a decade,” said Matt Hulsizer, PEAK6 co-founder and co-CEO, in a news release. “With the majority of our talented workforce now based in Texas and Austin emerging as our largest office, moving our headquarters was an important decision to be closer to our team. We’re excited for the next chapter of PEAK6 that will be written from our new headquarters.”

The company's affiliates — PEAK6 Group LLC, PEAK6 Strategic Capital LLC, PEAK6 APX Holdings LLC and PEAK6 LLC — will also move their global headquarters to Austin. PEAK6 will maintain its Chicago office.
This move is the latest in a stream of companies moving their bases to Texas to reap the state's lower taxes and lighter regulations, according to a Bloomberg News report.
