The Bitcoin market has been initially sold off in the early hours of Monday, as the market continues to look to the rest of the financial markets for risk appetite to improve. I think at this point in time, Bitcoin isn’t going anywhere one way or the other. I think we’re going to stay in this range and those who are quick enough might be able to take advantage as they occur on these little dips. That being said, I don’t necessarily think that Bitcoin is going to take to the upside very strongly either. I think we’re trying to form some type of range with the $75,000 level being an area that’s significant support, and the $90,000 level above being an area that’s significant resistance. We are currently right around the $82,000 level. So, we aren’t quite in the middle of it, but we’re pretty close. So, I think at this point in time, you’re basically at fair value. For myself, I’ve been dollar cost averaging into this pullback, but this is just a tiny amount weekly. It’s not something I plan on trading. It’s an investment, so it’s not such a big deal. But for those trading this market, you have to be aware of this potential range that we are forming. And as we are in the middle of this range, there isn’t a whole lot to do at this point in time if you are more short-term minded. You should keep in mind that risk appetite is going to be everything here, and right now, the only thing I can say about risk appetite is that it’s been ran over. Five years ago, Ubisoft delighted winter adventure lovers with the game Steep, which allowed them to race along virtual mountains no worse than in reality. And now the studio is calling us to the slopes again — this time with the Riders Republic project. Is this just Steep 2 under a new name or is it something fresh and more ambitious? Table of Contents It was clear at first glance that the new project from Ubisoft Annecy has not strayed far from its predecessor, Steep. A huge open world, tracks for all possible extreme disciplines, a bunch of equipment, suits, tasks, tests – we have seen all this before, and all this is again with us in Riders Republic. Only now there is more of everything. Significantly more. But there are not as many qualitative changes as we would like. Steep focused on winter sports: skiing, snowboarding, wingsuit and paragliding. The atmosphere is appropriate – solid snow-capped peaks. But Riders Republic offers a much more diverse map. All because they added bicycles: high-speed, stunt, mountain bikes – any whim. And so that these bikes had room to roam, they had to expand the arsenal of landscapes. They were inspired by seven US national parks from the West Coast – and put together one giant location from them. The result is a classic Ubisoft-style open world — with distinct biomes, regions that open up as you progress, and man-made landmarks. There are beautiful views, perfect spots for screenshots, and a gentle nudge to stop, admire the nature, and take a photo for memory. And, I must say, there really is something to see here. The picture pleases the eye: the change of day and night, the weather, the landscapes, the detail of the environment — everything is on point. In some places, Riders Republic even resembles an interactive meditation. If you want, race along the tracks, or if you want, turn on the “zen mode” and just ride, enjoying the beauty of the world, without tasks and fuss. Why buy games anymore? But Riders Republic is not about relaxed contemplation of nature – the main thing here is not to admire, but to compete. The game invites us to take part in active competitions, covering five career areas at once: Each direction is divided into specific disciplines. For example, in the bike stunt career, you will master freeride and slopestyle, and the third type is pure fun: imagine racing on an ice cream man’s tricycle or crazy stunts on homemade skis made of wooden boards. Each career has its own equipment, and here the developers have tried their best: dozens of options that differ not only in appearance, but also in characteristics. To gain access to more powerful equipment, you need to complete tasks, earn experience and in-game currency. And in order not to waste time on long trips between locations, the arsenal also includes transport for fast travel: jet skis, a snowmobile, a motorized paraglider and even a jet bike. Despite this entire arsenal, the controls remain quite simple – a couple of buttons and their combinations for performing tricks. If you want a real challenge, you can turn off automatic assistance during grinding and landing. The difficulty will increase, but there will be much more fun and points for spectacular tricks. Well, let’s move on to the most interesting part – competitions. The map is scattered with race icons that can be launched, but they do not appear immediately: first, you need to advance a little up the career ladder. By the way, sports disciplines are also unlocked gradually – so to gain access to everything, you will have to spend several hours. In the races themselves, you will have to compete either with bots or with so-called “ghosts” – recordings of other players’ races. For finishing, the player receives stars – they show career progress and conventionally reflect the “coolness” of the character. But the feeling from such races is debatable. Formally, this is the main activity in Riders Republic, but in fact, all the competitive tension goes offline. Of course, racing with “ghosts” is not the same as live competition online. Sometimes it even seems that it would be better not to have these translucent rivals at all: they are not so intangible – you can run into them, and sometimes it turns out quite unpleasant. But with a full-fledged multiplayer, not everything is smooth. In theory, everything is simple: you go to the hub – a local sports camp in the center of the map – sign up for the queue and wait for the start. But what I got was a hectic event that is unlikely to please newcomers. Maybe for veterans of the game this is an interesting challenge, but getting into such races from scratch is a real test. Riders Republic is not just a race against other players. Here, interaction goes beyond a banal competition: while traveling across a vast map, you will often encounter other participants – real people who are easy to recognize by a special icon above their heads. True, bots are often found next to them, marked with similar but slightly different icons. This solution seems to add a sense of scale, but in reality it looks a little artificial. If you like one of the players you meet, you can join a group – this opens up access to additional features, including joint completion of tasks and competitions right on the go. The game also has a creative mode, where you can design your own tracks and share them with others – a great way to show your imagination. And where would we be without a photo mode: filters, angles, poses – there are a lot of tools, so you will definitely get beautiful pictures. Ubisoft essentially developed the ideas of Steep without trying to invent anything from scratch – and in this case, this is more of a plus than a minus. Riders Republic does not revolutionize the genre, but offers a logical continuation of the already familiar formula. Everything here is still beautiful, it draws you in for a long time (“one more run – and then sleep, honestly!”), and there is even more variety – both in locations and in types of activities. If you liked Steep, the new game will definitely be to your taste. What I liked: What I didn’t like: Does the thought of riding a BMX on crazy tracks, soaring into the sky on a wingsuit or racing down a snowy slope on a board take your breath away? Riders Republic is the game where you can fully surrender to the drive and feel like part of a huge community of extreme sports enthusiasts. And here’s the good news: you can try it all for free. This road racing year won’t just be the usual scramble and sprint battle for individual titles because it marks the last year of a three-year promotion/relegation cycle that will decide which 18 teams will receive the much-coveted license for the UCI WorldTour, the top division of professional cycling. The teams placed 19th and lower in the UCI World Team Rankings table at the end of 2025 will compete as UCI ProTeams in the second division of pro cycling.
At the end of the last relegation cycle, which ended in 2022, Lotto and Israel–Premier Tech were relegated after having won fewer points than UCI ProTeams Alpecin-Deceuninck and Arkéa-Samsic. At the start of this year, Lotto and Israel–Premier Tech rank 9th and 11th, respectively, in the standings and appear to have excellent chances of returning to road racing’s top tier. Lotto currently have 12579.3 points, which is 4,500 points above the team currently sitting 18th, Uno-X Mobility. Israel–Premier Tech has 11723.3 points, 2,780 points above the current cutoff. These leads may sound like solid buffers, but they are not – especially when you consider that the Swiss rider March Hirschi collected 3,568 point by himself last year for his former team UAE Team Emirates. Significantly, Hirschi is riding this year for Tudor Pro Cycling, currently a ProTeam competing with Israel–Premier Tech and Lotto for WorldTour status. As a result, according to Cyclingnews, which cited race organizers, both teams have said that they will not be riding in this year’s Paris-Nice in order to better manage the schedule with a view to returning to WorldTour status. Despite standing better in the rankings, Lotto is particularly vulnerable because the team lost a major sponsor in Dstny as well as the riders Victor Campenaerts (to Visma – Lease a Bike), Maxim van Gils (to Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) and Andreas Kron (to Uno-X Mobility). The 25-year-old van Gils will especially be missed as he amassed more than 2,500 points last year, most of them through top five finishes during the spring Classics season. And, though he had a bad 2024, the 26-year-old Kron has in the past won a stage as well as two stage podiums in the Vuelta a España and picked up more than 1,500 points in his best year, 2023. The loss of Dstny’s sponsorship and the inability, so far, to replace it seriously limited Lotto’s activity on the transfer market, during which it failed to replace the quality riders it lost – unless one of the riders promoted from its development team steps up and has a big year. Nevertheless, team CEO Stéphane Heulot remains optimistic. “Even with a team that seems less strong on paper, we aim to maintain our position,” he said on the occasion of the presentation of the new team kit. “We’ll try to achieve this by adding more one-day races to our calendar. For example, we won’t compete in the Giro d’Italia, Paris-Nice or Tirreno Adriatico, as we hope to gather more UCI points in one-day races. Our ultimate goal remains to return to the World Tour in 2026.” He also noted that the team was still expecting to find a new major sponsor this year, saying: “Of course, we are eager to welcome new partners. It takes time, and these are not the easiest economic times, but we remain confident in the value of our team. It would be great to have news by the Tour de France.” Israel–Premier Tech seems to have a stronger chance of promotion. It added two strong veterans – Jan Hirt, from Soudal–Quick Step, and Alexei Lutsenko, from Astana Qazaqstan – to a roster that includes the strong and still improving Derek Gee, who finished 9th in last year’s Tour de France and third in the Critérium du Dauphiné. In addition, in 2023 he came in second on four Giro stages, and he will be racing in the Giro again this year. The team also has the promising 21-year-old Joseph Blackmore, who registered nine wins last year, including the yellow jerseys in the Tour du Rwanda, Tour de Taiwan and the Liège-Bastogne-Liège U23.There’s also the 30-year-old Pascal Ackerman, who has 40 victories on his resume and the excellent young sprinter Ethan Vernon, who is unfortunately sidelined with a fractured collarbone suffered during the team’s training camp. But its best rider may be 28-year-old Stephen Williams, who racked up more than 1,500 points last year. The team also boosted its staff for the 2025 season, adding Sports Directors Alexander Cataford and Francesco Frassi, and Performance Optimization Coordinator Marc Quod, in addition to promoting Steve Bauer to Sporting Manager. Bauer’s new position will make him crucial to the team’s promotion as he will be in charge of the team’s race calendar and therefore deciding what races offer the best opportunities for the team to accumulate points.
