Protect Religious Freedom in Ohio: Oppose HB 486 – Bend the Arc: Jewish Action

The Ohio legislature is working at warp speed to try and pass Ohio HB 486, the Charlie Kirk American Heritage Act. If passed, this bill would allow public school and university teachers to promote the “positive influence of Christianity” on American history and culture — an unnecessary and dangerous overreach that undermines the separation of church and state.
This bill is yet another attempt by Ohio lawmakers to forward a Christian nationalist agenda and undermine our multicultural and multi-faith democracy. It relies on false narratives and a whitewashed framing of U.S. history, with a singular focus on Christianity. Ultimately the purpose of bills such as these is to enshrine the claim that “America is a Christian country” — and this sets a dangerous precedent. 
That is why we need you to take action today by emailing the Ohio House Education Committee leadership and your Ohio House representatives to demand that they vote NO on HB486.
